I have found (And my band members have found) that it is extremely balanced. I play some chordal stuff from time to time, and from the low B up to the upper range chords featuring the C string around the 12th fret and above they a very smooth and balanced.
Currently because I am practicing and gigging a bunch on it I threw on a set of light D'addarios, not my preference but they were very cheep, and the songs I needed to record on the 6er were done.
I haven't modded the electronics on the 6 string at all. The only issue I have with it is; on certain stages around town it picks up allot of hum. With that said, when there is a sound guy around who actually knows his board, they can do a very good job of eliminating that hum.
The 6 is definitely my main bass. So this time around I figured I'd go with cheeper strings that I can replace more often, how ever I don't know if I am actually going to stick to that logic. I threw a set of DR low riders on the 400QM, paired with the new Nordstrands, the tone is simply amazing.
I keep the action on the basses what I would consider fairly low. but I like to be able to kick it up a bit, and dig in every once in a while. My main band covers allot of Billy Cobham, Hiromi, and Herbie Hancock style stuff, so I need allot clarity, and balance in my tone. But! I also need to be able to get nice and low, and sometimes chord fairly high.
I have found the BTBs are perfect for an everyday bass for me, but its definitely been good to have a Jazz bass kicking around as of late. I loaded it with Nordstrand 70s wind J pickups and the tone is a force to be reckoned with.
But yeah, spend some time tweaking the set up on your own and eventually the bass will settle very well. It'll be your go to in no time!
Tonewoods are the only difference - well, and the finish. They both have 5-ply maple/bubinga necks/bodies, but the "wings" are different.
I have the 675 and it's made of ash with a walnut top and clear flat finish.
My girlfriend has the 775 and it's mahogany with a poplar top and what Ibanez is calling a "charcoal brown" finish, but it looks dark red.
I think the 775 is more elegant looking, but the 675 sounds the same to me and is $100 cheaper. (I can't one-up the gf, anyway! I bought mine because hers is such a dream to play!)

GAAAH! I've been trying to find one of these in-store somewhere to play. I was just in Galveston less than a month ago. Wish I had known!!!
Sorry if this isn't posted in the right place but im looking for a case for my btb675. I like the protection of the Gator Deluxe Bass Case however they are form fitting for the Fender P-bass and Jazz bass series.
Can anyone tell me whether the btb will fit this moulding or suggest an alternative?

can't speak to that specific case, but I use foam around the headstock in a MF brand plywood case and it works well....
True but i want something more permanent and less DIY. Doing a bit of travelling coming up and like the idea of a road / flight case just for uber protection.
Plus i love the locking mechanism on this thing. No way your going to break into it. The case is the Gator Deluxe Bass something something
Got this 570 from a music store in St. Louis via ebay. Not a scratch on it, dead straight, and barely out of tune when it arrived. Bartolini MK2 pups and pre, great tone. Pulled the elixirs off it and replaced them with sunbeams. This thing is a monster.
