After some day I think the bass is perfect, neck is a dream but, for my taste, pickups are very muddy and I miss a passive tone. So I talk with a local handmade pickup producer for new pickup and preamp + passive tone.
Probably an humbucker at bridge and an in line splitcoil (for hum cancelling) at neck position.
This is the link of Mama Pickups,

Probably my choice will be for Double Versa humbucker splittable series parallel,Jazz Bucker SB and AP3 preamp.

..at the end...
I stay with Bartolini PU (nordstand have some issue with stainless strings, too magnetic field.. ) but I wire in parallel.
Glockenklang pre is a dream.
I reverse bridge and neck PU position cose ibanez sometimes put the neck pickup at bridge and bridge pickup at neck... it sound realy better now.

I've been playing my BTB 1606 for the weeks now, and...love it. I was afraid that the tone would be too hifi. It's not. I has a girthier P bass tone when rolled slightly to the neck pickup. But, have kept it set mostly flat. I played it at a church gig. Actually used the B, and C strings.
Tomorrow, I have a casual private party with my other band, outside, overlooking Red Rocks park in Colorado Springs/ Manitou. Can't wait.
Still want to switch to a tapered B, once I find one.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. I recently got my nerve up to buy a BTB605MS on Reverb. I took it to my friendly neighborhood luthier for a setup and checkup. He set it up medium low and got rid of most of the buzz, but it is still a little bit touchy above 14 on the D and G. He says he might be able to get it all by leveling/dressing the frets.
So my question is, is it reasonable to expect to level frets on a brand new bass? I know this is not a super high end instrument, but it pretty high end-ish for me.

(Don't tell me not to play so hard... it's a little bit late in the game for me to develop Proper Technique ;))
