Out of curiosity, I noticed that a lot of BTBs, including mine, are 6'ers. Why is that? My reason is, this was the best bass to wet my feet in the 6'er pool.
Well, for me the 6th string option was less than the $49 map price (minimum advertised price). End of the model year deal. Not a blem. Went looking for 5's and this 6 just felt right.
I can't speak out loud, since everybody has his / her own opion on this, but I believe that the BTB has one of the ''best'' (yes I know the word best shouldn't be used in the world of music

I wear a harness for practice and long gigs on sax to save my neck. A heavy bass will send me to the chiropractor and a light bass will keep me at the message therapist.

I might have to agree with you. If you are using the price/quality ratio as the measuring stick. my BTB would be the best bass I own. It's less than 1/3 of the cost my other 2 basses but definitely not 1/3 the quality.
That's why I went for the price/quality ratio 
It's hard to compare it with other stuff, otherwise you get apples vs oranges and such
It's hard to compare it with other stuff, otherwise you get apples vs oranges and such I tried one of the older bolt on quilt top BTB 6 strings the other day and was surprised. I've seen them as cheap as $375. They are a steal.

Holy crap. I have a 675M and for that price, I would gladly add a 6 string to the stable. Yowza.
There just aren't too many basses that can hang with the 1999 BTB1004E that I got for 350.
Has been a great bass since I got it years ago.
I wonder what NAMM 2014 brings us
