I have a Korean 1206, and it is amazing. The craftsmanship is flawless. I cannot speak on the Japanese.
Can someone tell me the difference between the BTB675 and the BTB675ZW, please? Both were at the Guitar Center I frequent but somebody got the BTB675 I had my eye on and the BTB675ZW remains. The good thing is, the BTB675ZW is now on clearance. However, I'm really not that fond of the appearance compared to the BTB675. I've played both and they both felt great so the only difference besides the extra letters at the end of the model name that I can tell is the appearance. Are there any other differences? Is one higher quality than the other? I've done research but have had no luck finding reviews on the 675ZW. I even emailed Ibanez themselves and haven't heard a thing yet. Should I get the 675ZW that's on clearance or should I spend a little more money and find the BTB675 somewhere else? Because most likely, the BTB675 won't be on clearance and I doubt the $849 price tag would come down much with my SR SoundGear405QM trade in no matter where I go. Please help and thank you. A quick reply is much appreciated for the clearance ends at the end of this month.
The ZW on the 675ZW represents the zebra wood that is used on the body construction as opposed to the walnut (I think) that is used on the 675. They are identical in every other way. I personally love that zebra wood over the walnut, ymmv

I'm really torn between the walnut and the zebra finish tho....like 51/49...51 being the walnut...but the zebra is hot.....
would anybody else like to cast their vote for the hottest out the two? i'd love to see your comments

I say get the zebra wood BTB before someone snatches that one from your grasp.
Both the models you're referring to look great, but I think the zebra wood model looks more exotic.
By the way, I own a BTB1205E, and it is really one of the best instruments I've played.
Some people say everyone should own a Jazz bass; I say everyone should own a BTB.

I have the walnut 675 but would have bought the ZW one if it had been on the market when I was looking. I like natural highly figured wood.
100% agree, same here. Mine is a maple fretboard...I'm pretty sure the ZW doesn't come with maple unfortunately. Tough tradeoff for me between the beauty of the ZW and the maple.
When you're looking at two different basses its always best to play them.
I've found both brands to produce good basses however have always felt far more comfortable with Ibanez and the BTB range is an excellent set of basses.
Are you buying online or in store? Id try and find somewhere to play them first.
The BTBs in general have a good build quality and great range of sound.
The one thing I'm a little disappointed with is that the latest models are all unpainted. I own an orange fireburnt ripple colour from about 9 years ago and love it. Really would like to see some of the newer models with a paint option.
Hello All, new guy here, not just to this site, but new to playing as well. The bass that I am learning on is a GSR200 and I was trying to find out info on it. I tried to figure out the date it was born and the more I looked on the net the more I confused myself. Can anyone tell me what date this was made? Or for that matter any info about what I have here.

Well you have an Ibanez GSR200, an entry level bass, pretty sure you can find some info on it, but it's pretty basic. As far as the serial no., I rememeber the 'I' is for 'Indonesia' (as you can see, it says 'Made in Indonesia') then the first two numbers are the year it was manufactured, '06' so its a 2006, then the next two number are the month, '11' so November. I believe the rest identifies its order it came out that month.
Well after my last question was answered [thanks again srvlives4evr] I started doing a little surfing on the net to get a feel for the BTB lineup. Well long story short I ran across a BTB that is for sale and at my local music shop [price seams right, but then again what do I know, hahaha] . So, now my question is what are the big advantages of this BTB over the GSR I now have. Keep in mind that I am a total newbie and trying to learn.

I did the exact same switch. GSR200 to BTB405. The BTB felt a lot easier and more comfortable to play, and a much better range sound (in my opinion). The pickups and preamp are better than the GSR for sure, the GSR not having a preamp at all. If youre not too sure about preamps do a search on the forum, theres a lot of info and its something you can swap out at a later date.
As a beginner its all about finding an instrument that feels comfortable, so Id head into the shop and try it out. If it feels good snap it up.
