Ibanez BTB Club, Part 2!

Requesting a number! Here's a mediocre-quality iPhone photo of me messing around on the "new" BTB1006E shortly after getting it. I'll get better pics later (by which I mean tomorrow). Still trying to figure out what strings to fit to it; GC employee who plays a very similar bass recommended DR Sunbeams, so I'm waffling between that, Lo-Riders, and D'Addario Nickels.

Congrats with that beauty mate!! :D It has the REAL Bartolini's in it, so you sure got a amazing bass right there in your hands! All the best with it :bassist:

Has anyone upgraded their stock Bartoni / Ibanez to Nordstrands? I'm torn between the Big Splits and the Singles. Not sure what would sound better in a BTB or if its more of a personal choice.

The Ibanez prestige are stocked with singles and I'm not sure if there is a specific reason for that.

I use a lot of balance either way for different songs and have read that the singles can cause a bit of noise when not running together.

There're plenty of threads comparing splits and singles but I'm looking for some peoples comments who play BTBs and either have the stock singles or have done an upgrade to one or the other.

I've had the singles and they can be a little noisy when panned even with everything shielded. If you are anti noise the big splits or fat stacks are a better choice. The singles are a hair more aggressive and really clear. The big spits are a hair darker. If u are a big slapper the singles are it, but the splits are great overall.

Picked up a BTB 1406e Premium a few months ago and just took the plunge to up the B string to a .158 and drop the whole bass to Drop G# with some circle K's. I'm loving it so far.

OMG NOT YOU AGAIN!! I JUST JIZZED MY PANTS, THANKS!!

Hahahahaha, very great bass mate. Why did you decided to get a .158 low B and tune it to Drop G? You could also buy a .150 F# and tune it up half a step.

But if it works for you, it's great! I hope you still enjoy that bass! :hyper::bassist:

That's what Skip from Circle K recommends for Drop G# for his strings. He actually wanted me to get a .166 but he said a .158 would work fine. So I'm tuned from Low to high G#D#G#C#F#B. Sounds like a monster, octobass range haha and I don't even need one of these!! http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2012/08/18/nothing-but-bass-nico-abondolo-plays-the-octobass/

I'm glad you enjoyed it haha. How many other people on here have a BTB 1406e out of curiosity?

OPPS! Didn't realize I had already posted this awhile back haha. I already have a number. I was just super excited about my strings!
