It's not.
The Canadian Ibanez disty seems kinda flaky. My ETA has gone from the first week of Jan to Jan 23 to Feb. I am having the retailer transfer one in from another location, but I need them to confirm the condition and weight before I agree to have them bring it in.I am still getting one, but god knows when!

Probably not. They were not popular enough. Ibanez BTB basses were mostly popular in the 5 & 6 string version
since ordering the 5 single cut with nordstrands is out the window, could someone tell me the dimensions of the bh1 pickups so i can replace them with nordys?
Has anyone here tried both the BTB67x and BTB57x? The used prices are similar and I'd like to know the differences between them, but I can't seem find a 575 to try out locally. I know that the 575 is mahogany with a maple top and the 675 is ash with a walnut top; those are the only differences as far as tech specs go. Going by that, I'd assume the only differences are in tone and weight, but if anyone has any experience to share I'd be grateful.
I'm looking for a wiring diagram for my BTB686 Terra Firma. Ibanez doesn't have any options on their site beyond 2008 models. I figured the BTB 676 would have similar wiring, but I can't find a diagram for that either.
I emailed Ibanez, but then I realized that they don't respond to anyone outside of the US. Anyone know if I can find something to go off of?

I just upgraded my BTB 405QM with Aguilar Super Singles and a Bassmods three band preamp . The stock preamp was pretty good but I wanted to be able to go passive so the Bassmods pre works great with the passive switch . Very good EQ points for the lows , mids and highs and the pre has a trim pot to balance the volume between the active and passive modes . It seems very quiet too with just the normal single coil buzz when panned either way , it's dead quiet when panned in the center position .
The Aguilar pickups sound very balanced and open just like a pair of great Jazz pickups but seem to have a fatter , tighter low end than other Jazz single coils . These things really let the high harmonics come through without getting harsh at all , very detailed sound . These pickups and preamp are very close to the sound I got when I had an Ibanez SR1405 with the Nordstrand Big Singles and the Ibanez preamp in that bass , I loved that tone and love this one now too .
Highly reccomend these pickups and preamp for your older BTB , they work great for these basses .

I started a separate post about this bass, but I finally received my BTB686 Terra Firma after a few weeks of waiting.
After a 2800 mile trip from the west coast, it arrived in perfect condition. It was transferred from another location and I was worried that it had been hanging on the wall and getting played by everyone that walked by it. It is new, which is a relief.
So far, I think it is a great bass for the $$$. Perfect construction and it sounds great. Looking forward to hearing it on a gig or during a rehearsal though...

It looks great. If there are no btb namm surprises ill be order the 5 string terra firma at the end of this month! I believe they shipping straight from Japan.
One must wonder why a Ibanez decided to screw the ramp onto the bass instead of using double sided tape which almost every other luthier uses. And SIX screws? I guess there is no danger of it falling off....

Actually the screws are way easier to deal with and setup, and allow for much finer adjustment. I would way rather have screws that double stick tape in my Foderas for example, but they don't do it because of the work involved.
True. Screw holes might limit your audience if you ever decide to sell though. Many bassists would pull a ramp off IMO.
I have the tape on my 2 Foderas and my FBass fretless. Works perfectly for me. If I needed to adjust height, it would be a large problem though.
