I own a '96 SR505 Soundgear and it's a great bass! A lot of folks don't like them due to the narrow string spacing as it's not conducive to slapping!

Recently snagged two HO's off ebay, an ERGODYYYYYYNE 600 made of the alluring "Luthite". Comfy shape, good tone, cheap price.

Then I bought an SRX500 which has become my main beater/gig bass.

Best $200-$300 bass I've found yet.

The Ergodyne's going on the block, and I'm keeping the 500. Don't need'em both.

well, seeing as I have the most expensive non custom Ibanez bass built, I must say I love it to death.

The frets are excellent, no fret buzz and the strings are very low, so the action is great. I can get great tones from the dual barts, and Vari-Mid HIFI preamp is also excellent, and the bridge design is superb. I can say that this will be my main axe for many years.

Great build quality, great sound, great feel, what more do you need?

I have an SR500 and it is amazing! I knew as soon as i picked it up that i wanted it. Scored a sweet one off of ebay and its been my main axe for awhile now.

Nice TR! I think they were as J Bass-inspired as the ATKs were Stingray-inspired, but for some reason, no one wanted them. I always thought they looked really interesting.

I don't gig with it much but I carry it everywhere as my backup bass. I love the active/passive switch, I don't think I could gig with an active bass that didn't have one. The green finish and matching headstock are also a nice added touch.

I picked it up not too long ago off the Pit for a good price. That's the first thing that caught my attention, then after seeing the jazz pickup config. I fell in love.

I have a Soundgear 5 string with a manhogany body, I forget the exact number model, but I'm in love with it. I actually like the narrow string spacing for less motion when playing lines on multiple strings, or string skipping. If I really have to slap I can grab another bass (and teaching yourself to slap on that Ibanez cleans up your style anyways).

Admittedly when I first got it I wasn't a fan. I lowered the action and threw on better strings and both helped me fall more in love. Also I've played Soundgear's with active pickups (mine has passive) that sucked.

i dont know what you guys are saying about it being hard to slap on a soundgear...i do it just fine and i have huge hands....the soundgears are probably the most comfortable basses after a jazz
