Hi--I've been playing 6-string guitars for about 45 years and decided to buy my first-ever bass. I bought this one online without ever having played one because of the great reviews, the short scale and of course the low price.
My only problem is that the D and G strings (factory, not mine) are a *very* different tone than the E and A. Having never played bass before I don't even know if this is to be expected, but it sure as hell doesn't sound right! The D and G have a much brighter sound, and not just because of their lighter gauge...it's as if they had separate and very different tone settings.
Please advise me on whether or not it sounds like I should exchange the guitar for a replacement or if this is something that can be easily remedied. Or do I maybe just need a higher quality instrument?
This is my first time at the forum so I hope I've posted this in the right place.
Thanks so much!
Rob
