Anyone have any experience with these? I want to sell my highway one to get a few extra bucks, but I still want a bass.

I don't look for much as for tone, since I only use bass for recording and EQ as necessary to get what I want. I'm mainly looking for playability. I like the fact that it's very small, pretty cheap (under 2 bills), and that it comes in a ridiculous purple color.

I have one, it's for my son but i play a lot with it.
It sounds and play great. Everythings is great except for the tuners, mine feel cheap and aren't pretty solid, i will by a Gotoh set(35$) to replace them...

Acoustically it sounds great and you can feel the bass vibrate against you

I'm sure you'll like it, mine is black by the way, it's available in 3 different colors.

sweet, i think i might have to sell the jazz and pick one up then. im no great bass player or anything, i just like laying down tracks for my recordings with it. so something small and funny looking would fit the bill. (funny looking for a 21 yr old guy, that is)

Even if I played in a band, I'm only 5'6" so it probably wouldn't even look that out of place haha. I wouldn't imagine the tuners to be too great like you said. How is the bridge? And I would most definitely get mine in that sweet purple color!

I messed around with one at a music store a couple months ago, thinking of picking one up for my daughter.

It was actually a pretty cool little bass---sounded good, played very nice, and seemed to be put together just fine.

There'll probably be one in our house come Christmas time.:)

I played one a while ago. Sounded rather generic but pleasant, the pots weren't scratchy, the electronics weren't noisy (even with the non-hum-cancelled single coil j pickup), it looks cute, and it's built pretty well. Tuners and other hardware aren't great, but they're adequate, and that's a cheap upgrade anyway.

glad to hear some good things. im hoping i can get at least 400 for my hwy 1 jazz on fleabay, then ill just order one of those mikro's and some new tuners at the same time probably. i think ill have a lot of fun on this little bass haha

The bass sounds very good. It does not have that 'tubby' sound that a lot of short scales have, and the strings aren't loose and rubbery, either. It gets a decent P bass sound, a decent Jazz bridge soloed sound, and with both pickups on full, gets a nice modern sound that doesn't sound like most P/J basses that I have played.

haha i like that picture as well. the bass looks much more sparkly there than on any other pictures i have seen. i wonder if i should get it in another color, haha. im glad to hear a lot of positive reviews on this little thing, im thinking it will be a lot of fun!

I just ordered one of these for my step-daughter, who had shown some interest in bass after her cousin got a guitar for his birthday. I let her play around on my Spector Euro-5, which caused her to yell out "WHY are the strings SO thick?!?" Ah....kids... :D

As far as strings go....I'll probably start her with D'addarrio short scale roundwounds...and maybe move her to half-rounds if the string noise gets on her nerves.

This should be perfect for her, as she's quite small...same color as Grace's in the pic above. For the price, I can definitely understand any shortcomings it might have in terms of tone or whatever. I hope she turns out to be a fine player despite someone like ME teaching her... :p

i wonder if ill be the only grown man to order a purple bass meant for a child for myself :P

as long as the playability is good on this thing, i dont really care about much else. for me, recording bass is mostly about the EQ and the amp anyways. (I have a little dorm room studio, so it's nothing amazing anyways)

I have this one! I am a newbie to the bass, and bought this one b/c I am 4'11" with tiny hands- and I LOVE it! I tried the Epiphone shorty as well as the Mustang- but this fits me soo much better! My SO plays everything from 32 to a 36 CT on order, and he loved this one as well. Had to order mine unplayed and unseen- but it was worth it! I ordered Red- but it came in with a more burgundy color to it, which is even better. It has a big sound for a short scale, would highly recommend!
