Ibanez Promethean

I'm getting one as soon as someone buys my 115 sWR golight! I know people at Hoshino so I mine breaks I'm sure they will help me out.

Dear socknroll,

The lovely P5110 combo I am currently playing has the odd random no output issue - making it a gamble to gig with - you wouldn't by any chance be willing to share your contacts at Hoshino to see how a non-warranty covered second owner of a Promethean might get his 500h repaired? : )

i know this is a BG thread - but for any of you playing both electric and upright - do you use your Promethean with both and if so, what are some recommendations for a 12 cab (or 15 - but i'm leaning to 12 for portability) to use with the Promethean and an upright?

got to try one yesterday in the one ten combo big sound with a mia p bass all controls set flat. then took the head off and used it with a gk 212neo same settings a big/fat sound is what i got, there are four bolts that hold it to the combo. i was just getting warmed up and the rep turned it off he didn't want to give to much away i guess. he said it comes as 110&210 combo & just the head. prices over here in aus will be $1500 for 110 & $1100 au dollars head only i think don't quote me on the prices.
Why would the sales rep. come and turn off something he or she needs to sell. ???

I used mine for both for a while. However, I always used a pre and I couldn't use mine on bigger gigs as a simple combo. I still have it and use it for small stuff but the GB Shuttle6.1 w2x10 combo is insanely good for both w/o a pre so it gets 95% of my gig love.

Would be interested in the little box 3110 if the price would come down a bit...
Looks like I'm out of date -- I've never heard of the 3110. What's the difference between it and the older 5110 (other than the obvious 300W vs. 250W)? A street price of about $365 USD doesn't seem excessive for a 300W combo.

Mike H .... the 5110 was replaced by the 3110 a while ago. Gone is the graphic eq and in its place is a mid knob, vibe control is now a phat control, switchable limiter is new as is a tweeter on/off switch. The head no longer detaches nor works at different ohms/watts. The price has come down almost 50% as well it seems. The 3110 combo isn't listed on the Canadian Ibanez site. Just the head, various cabs and a 115 combo.

Thank you. I wonder if quality control issues plague this line of products like in the 5110 era...

my 5110 is futzin out again- even after a Hoshino repair last year...
I hate having to look for a new head, not just because of the investment - but I really love this thing... : (
well - the Promethean 5110 head (h500) is now my permanent (headphone) practice-amp. it just isn't reliable to gig with anymore. but I still love the cab and came up with this solution:

Hey guys and gals, Im new to the group so be easy ;)
Im fro newzealand and bought the P5210 new quite a few years ago now. Been gigging and jamming with it successfully for ages. However, in recent times... its been making the dreaded 'click' and shutdown syndrome (Re: overheat protection without the overheat - it feels cool to the touch on the back...)
I use my (beloved) 4string Prestige, with a fairly tamed ODB3, with an extra 4x10 old fender quad... we practise pretty loud but nothing mind blowing, so I dont think Im running it too hot or hard but this keeps happening... but not frequently enough to pin point the issue. Happened at band practise the other night, maybe an hour of good jamming then 'click'.... not ideal.

Any thoughts on a fix/solution to this?
I love the amp dearly, as its tiny and fits in the car haha nevermind, being able to DI at shows and not have to lug the dreaded 4x10 'backbreaker' around... but, I also cant have an unreliable amp, especially when asked if the amp could be used as backline for other musicians.

Thanks,
Geoff.
