Ibanez Promethean

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Just as I was ready to make a move on a MarkBass, I see this thing available to order! I'm biased against Ibanez products, but this head looks really cool. Has anyone had the opportunity to try one out/hear it?

For $500, I might just order one through Guitar Center, and if I don't like it I can always take it back. Plus fire engine red would match my Bag Ends, I think.

The amp does sound quite well, but when we are talking about a little mark I do not know how well this amp can compare. Not saying it doesn't but just go try it out and try this thing out. It sure is catching my eye, but I have to try this out.

got to try one yesterday in the one ten combo big sound with a mia p bass all controls set flat. then took the head off and used it with a gk 212neo same settings a big/fat sound is what i got, there are four bolts that hold it to the combo. i was just getting warmed up and the rep turned it off he didn't want to give to much away i guess. he said it comes as 110&210 combo & just the head. prices over here in aus will be $1500 for 110 & $1100 au dollars head only i think don't quote me on the prices.

Hopefully you'll be able to sleep soon. I think they're just now getting into stores, so people will be able to start trying them out. I'm really considering ordering one, though. Just the head, at least.

For those who've tried it out, what's the tone like? Any comparison to a Little Mark?

given time to eq i think you could get close to the littlemark sound, but someone will have to a/b them. with the 110 set flat i just rolled the bass/treble on the bass and got great tone from cutting highs to buttery lows. i'm no fan of ibanez put what i heard was good, only time will tell if they can go the distance. good to see another player in the game!

I'm pretty psyched about this line of amps. I agree that it's nice to have more competition, and I think they're at a very competitive price point. If these things sound decent and hold up, I think it's going to be an excellent offering.

Looking forward to checking them out in GC/Sam Ash as soon as they hit the stores.

PS, I was able to track this down:

I played one of these at Winter NAMM, and we have one in for review (though not by me). From what I was able to glean after spending that brief time with the 1x10 combo at NAMM, I was fairly impressed. We'll put it through its paces and see how it does.

Do you guys have any specs? Specifically, wattage?

Nevertheless, I went ahead and pulled the trigger, partially because I if it works out well I'll have a good amp for less than a Markbass, and partially because I was thinking I was going to get $50 off at Guitar Center (answer: I did not). Hopefully I'll have it by Saturday, if not, then Monday. I'll let everyone know what I think!
