The other one I was maybe considering was the squier jazz standard, and yeah its all because of the budget (around 300$), but going back to the ibanez why chose one over the other (other than price)?
The SR is the flagship of Ibanez where the GSR is kinda a starter bass - Get tthe SR300.
It has an active 3-band EQ with stylesweep midrange control (the same one as on my SR400QM & SR405QM). It puts out thunderous lows, and nice bright highs with mid shaping (sweep). The controls are volume, blend, mid sweep, and stacked bass/treb boost. The neck is a tad narrower, and thinner than on the GSR.
