I also have a SR300DX. I find it to be a great bass. That said it was made in 1991. First 2 numbers after the letter are the year it was made. The letter is the factory in a certain country that it was made. The last digits are which bass it was that year. Hope this helps. So it was the 2996th bass made in that factory in 1991. I think its made in Indonesia, I forget which factory the c stands for though.
Your guitar was made at the Cort Plant, Korea, in October 1999 (Production Number: 2996). metlman72 may own one, but he's clearly no expert on them. For the record, Ibanez wasn't making instruments in Indonesia in 1991. The 300 series wasn't introduced until 1996, and the 300DX wasn't introduced until 1998.
