Ha Ha Ha I get that a lot .. that gig was a corporate event at a golf course. We had to play outside and it was 97 degrees in August.

He also was the singer and principal writer for THIN LiZZY. He used all upstrokes with a pick. He was a pretty good Bass Player.

I think what you mean is that he was an inveterate alternate picker a plectrum. Because he was the main songwriter he was good at playing for the song but he was never going to win a Bass Player Magazine Poll. His real value and skill was as a front man and occasionally great song writer as you said.
