So, to be clear...shorts are a no no (totally disagree by the way), but what about capes?

Pretty much all of his work I know him for not sure on any other projects got to say I'm surprised some bass players don't know him by now. Definitely a great bassist with some iconic bass lines but everyone has different taste
Paul Simonon was (and still is) is just too cool

The shorts usually aren't the problem; it's the ridiculous shoes people pair with them. Commerford is wearing a nice, streamlined skate shoe; average white guy in cargo shorts is wearing big, klutzy "athletic" shoes with an oversized tank tread on them. "I'm here to rock, then go scale a rock wall after the church potluck dinner!. .. "

I like bass players from many different backgrounds, thus diverse aesthetics and onstage ways. But the 2 guys that are superiorly magnetic for me to watch live are Jay Bentley (Bad Religion) and John Norwood Fisher (Fishbone). Both very different but hypnotic in their own ways to me.
In the case of Bentley it's no surprise he's taken over front man stage position live with BR, not only he looks real good (and young, age hasn't been that nice to his bandmates), but he's got the moves, the secure presence while still being fresh, he looks like genuinely having fun.
Fisher OTOH masters the COOL game, he's so smooth and "quietly dancey" while really driving the band's mood. Even Angelo Moore's antics disappear from my sight for minutes at a time when watching this man live. His size and looks are equally as immense

Haven't several other TB threads established that nobody notices the bass player? If so, surely it doesn't matter what you wear. Skin tight leather jump suit or Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts, you may as well be standing off stage. Or is this thread saying the ideal bass player appearance is a hot woman?
