Identify the SX vs. Fender in the mix thread

You know how many musicians are - they stand watching, arms folded, with the words "I can do that" basically tattooed on their foreheads. In their minds, good equipment "must" be the only reason that you're on stage, and not them - because CERTAINLY they are "at least" as good of a player as you.
LOL. I usually see another player and think:
1. Man, I wonder if I could play that bass line anywhere near as well.
2. Boy, that is a nice looking bass. Still, I like mine better.
3. STOP ANALYZING the music and just enjoy it!!!
I had an "expert" confront me on break one night with a litany of "you should be doing" this, that and some other damn thing. I just smiled and asked him where he was gigging next and I'd come see what he was talking about if I was free that night. He shut up after that.
I recently watched a bunch of Ed Friedland videos and he really has his own sound. Always using the same kinds of amps, but different basses. Savit, being a very good rock player probably gets his own sound in the same manner.

Looks like a cheap POS Fender pick copy...no way that sounds as good as the real thing....why, I have the "holy grail" of picks, a Fender tort Heavy from 1963...it will blow that pick away!

Oh yeah? Well, I have a "Closet Classic" pick from the custom shop and it's indistinguishable from yours! It only cost me $49.99, and it even came with a special certificate, DVD and "congratulations, you're now the proud owner of" manual!

Yeah, but we all know that tort picks back in the day were hit-n-miss (uneven thickness, poorly cut/cast, etc), your holy grail may just be a so-so equivalent of an average pick that rolls off today modernized pick making equipment.
I just heard Fender is planning to release the 1963 "relic" tort heavy pick...already scuffed up & some of that point is rounded more, like it's been played for years on the road...you should order one now...it won't be the real deal though, no matter how close...it's MIM.

I relic my own with a belt sander while wearing a blindfold.
I glue a bunch to the bottom of both my feet & road-ski down the freeway at 85mph...
Granted, not the easiest way to do it, but really the only proper way IMO.
Well, you both have fake relic Fender picks & not the official ones....A little pricey at first (@$100) but I'm sure they will increase in value. These are quality pro picks, not that cheap import crap.
