Is there any way to identify different P-bass pickups?
I pulled what I thought were stock Fender MIM pickups out of a 2006 MIM p bass, but then I noticed the pots were CTS.
I didn't think they used CTS pots in MIM products.
The 2006 fender MIM models were rumored for a while to have "anniversary" upgrades, to the pots and pickups.
I thought those rumors were debunked, which is why I was surprised to see the CTS pots in there.
I was also surprised to see aluminum shielding on the pick guard, just over the control cavity. pretty sure this was DIY, which makes me wonder if any of the guts were upgraded before it came into my possession.
As far as I know, I'm the third owner.
Any chance the old pick ups are upgrades? Any way to know by looking at them?
thanks
