Hey TB'ers.
I have a mint seafoam green 69 P bass with tort I need to unload. I just don't have room for it anymore because I've taken up keyboards and drumming. If you mail me the $100 cash for shipping it's yours! Hurry up though, cuz I'm moving to Nashville next week and it would be a waste to just leave it in the yard. There's a signature on the back, Jaco something "Greek" sounding.
^^^MINT!^^^

HA! I voted grumpy pants.
I did see this sign in the men's room at my local gas station " Attention all two fingered redneck Carolina county boys. Please don't eat the rock candy in the toilet." :D

That was ONE TIME! And they told me those cigarettes only "tasted funny" on acount uh my chewimg gum! :spit:

:roflmao:

So you're saying it's both mint green coloured and sea foam green...something doesn't add up. Which colour is it!?!?

My aunt would tell about these strange calls she got at family get-togethers.
We'd all look at her, before she finished the story, and say "It was a scam!".

Next get-together, very similar story...

The scary thing is they knew information about her family, claiming that so-and-so was in trouble someplace & needed money.
Instead of sending money she was clever enough to call around & find out the person they insisted was in trouble was not.

Unfortunately she never has learned how to identify the scams up-front like most of us have.
She's the nicest person you'd ever want to meet, but she's spent her whole life in debt due to some bad decisions.

As she got older she turned to me for advice, but then she can't follow through.
Right now it's about her cat. She won't give up her pet to move into cheaper housing. (where pets aren't allowed)

I was out with my Mum, last year, when she gets a call on her mobile...

What was freaky, was they were asking for me, by name.

???***???

So she hands the phone over to me, I say hello, and I listen to the guy on the other end of the line :

"I'm with the insurance company. I'm calling about that thing you had..."

I just roared with laughter, congratulating him on the most inept scam I'd ever heard.

Still, no idea how someone had got my Mum's mobile number, and my name, and linked those details (I'm assuming it was a coincidence that I happened to be stood right next to her at the time. Presumably they either thought they had my number, or they were hoping to trick someone's Mum in to giving away personal information about her son.... Or maybe they were watching :jawdrop::D).

They were going to tell your mum a story about you being in trouble and trick her into buying you out of the problem discreetly. But you were standing there and she handed the phone to you. That's hilarious. Scam bloopers.

The weird part is, my Mum and I have different surnames, so it's still a mystery how they connected us.

My good buddy who just so happens to be a Nigerian Prince, says he can wire you the money today. Just send me your bank account and routing numbers and I'll make sure you get taken...er, uh.....I mean taken care of.

I guess I was never "one of the guys" & must have missed out on (or misunderstood) a lot of the ribbing when I was younger.
Yup, I did too. I was pretty much a loner when I was younger and not one of the cool kids. In hindsight I can see how I often misunderstood when people treated me this way. Got over it when I started working construction with a bunch of crazy hippies, rednecks and other assorted mooks.

I feel bad for people who are scammed but I agree with two fingers in who could be that stupid.
I confess to being very amused by idiot stories, one of my favorites was a would be burglar, in England I think, took off a manhole cover to smash the window of a jewelry store. When he stepped back to avoid the falling glass he fell down the manhole.
Who needs comedians when you have idiots?

It's a guy thing, just us acting like knuckleheads to show our affection for each other. Kind of like "Hey, nice haircut, was the barber blind?"
"Dude, I though you were going to stop cutting your own hair in the mirror."

As far as being dumb enough to get scammed. Scams are targeted. Immigrants get threatened with deportation. Mothers will have their children jailed. IRS will take away retirement money with fees and fines. TB'ers are promised vintage tort.
It's not about being dumb, it's about being susceptible to whatever button the scam is pushing. And then sometimes it's also about being a little dumb/naive.

I hereby claim the band name Redneck and The Assorted Mooks.
Just sayin'.

You didn't miss a thing.

It took me most of my life to understand the "affection" some guys were throwing at me when I thought they were just being jerks, and once I figured it out my reaction was:

MEH.
