I get these calls, too, almost believed the first one, because the IRS is trying to get me - they owe me money, but I haven't sent the paperwork to prove it to them yet. I played with the scammers for a bit, now I just hang up.

I used to work at tech support for comcast and there’s sone gold there. I heard this one from a friend.

One day a customer calls lets call him John well John was having problems with his internet really weak signal, they went through the usual process, send a signal, soft reset and hard reset after all this John still had issues in this point my friend actually tried to solve the issue, comcast has a tool that can actually boost the signal but my friend wanted to have fun so he told John to grab a potato, wrap it in tin foil and put it on top of the modem Jhon did all of this, then my friend sends the boost and the potato magically works.

But that wasn’t all just before hanging up John being the genius that he is asks my friend. How often do I have to change the potato?.

Brilliant!

It's important to note, these scams a very carefully designed, to eliminate all but the most susceptible people.

There's much less chance of the scammers getting caught, or wasting time on a dead end mark, who comes to their senses at the last minute, if the scam is so far fetched, that only a certain type of person would fall for it - through to its conclusion.

"...the public was treated to a rendition of one of Aesop’s lesser-known fables, The Troll, the Moron, and the Stooge. There was no real moral, just a reminder that a sizable portion of the internet consists of opportunists tugging on their own nuts and screeching when they feel they haven’t received enough attention in the last hour."

My neighborhood is out in the country. We don't often do it, but we are allowed to shoot firearms in my area. Usually if we see a poisonous snake or something like that....

To that end....

I would LOVE to get one of these calls. I would scare the crap out of the caller.

Me....

"Really????? Woooooohooooo! I'm going down in a blaze of glory, brother!!!!! Let's do this thing!!!! You talking about the guys in that white van???? Take that you piece of $#!+!!!!!"

During my rant, I would have made my way out to the woods behind my house. Pop off a few rounds into the ground and hang up. :roflmao:
Why not full auto, and then ask the guy to take your last will and testament over the phone 'before you cap yourself'?

Just so everyone knows, the IRS will never call you, even if you want them to. They conduct all business by mail.

That's exactly what the PSA said. They "never EVER conduct business over the phone". Am accountant friend of mine told me that the only time you'll get a call from the IRS is if you are in the middle of an audit. In that case the same agent you have been working with may call to update you or ask fir clarification of a document you gave them during the process. But it will be someone you know by name and have been working with during the process.

I voted @Spidey2112....:D

Allow me to clarify: I was referring solely to people who have fully functioning mental capacity.
The whole in you logik is that people that r mentally ill or have lost metal capacity because of dementia do not no they are ill.

My brother has had a brain dysfunction for nearly 50 years that has kept him from living a full life so I know everything you all are talking about.

It's cruel to make fun of people you don't know, whatever their actions are.

@FingerDub That article is nuts.
I've jumped off of a house into a pool... More than several times. Liquor was usually involved and once so was a BMX bike.
It's too big of a leap for me to try to trap a bullet with an encyclopedia. That's well beyond tide pod territory. Is youtube making people act like asses or do we just get to see it now? I wonder.
