If this Cuban bass could talk?

I found this bass on a trip to cuba. And yes, it stayed there. I changed out the rusty strings and adjusted the truss rod. It looks like it's had a rough life. Totally stripped at one time. My guess is a p-bass neck and a body from a peavey. What do you think talkbass?

If it could talk, I still couldn't understand it. Neat bass. Like that "Fender" logo on the headstock. Legit.

Pretty sure you're not wrong. Still, it's a far better souvenir than a box of stinky cigars.

As an aside, I'm eager to get down there: I have roots on that island, and my family has been away for 60+ years.

I could tell every piece of finish had been removed and a shim was behind the neck. I loved this string.

Your going to be a couple of days cleaning that thing up. The pickups look interesting. Possible they are older. Look faded. Maybe someone got a hold of some thing cool. You should identify them properly.

I wanted to take the neck off so bad. But there was no way I could reuse these screws.

I was too scared to do that. The volume pot was disconnect and the input jack needed some tlc. But I had no tools...

Cubans traded sugarcane for instruments. Makes sense. Imagine all the vintage balalaikas forgotten in Cuba.

Watched quite a few shows on Cubans working on vintage vehicles. They do very inventive work due to lack of parts. They really think outside the box. Amazing.

Looks like all you need is a couple of screwdrivers. I'd wait 'til you're finished before you drink those....

If you're scared to crack it open, take it to a good luthier/tech near you. He can clean up the basics for little money, I'm sure
