I'm happy that so many people love their Fenders and I respect that - but I need more sonic versatility. Give me a German-made Warwick with 3-band EQ like a Thumb SC. I've never played but I've heard a couple of guys in Nashville using Sadowskys which sounded superb.
This walnut one I built. I experimented with all kinds of pickups in this one ( the first bass I ever built) and wound up with these G&L MFD P-style pickups, reverse-stagger in there. That's why the surrounding black "previous routing hole cover" pickguard.
This thing sounds enormous. It will stay in my possession for a long, long time, unless I can stumble on another combination which can surpass this bass for sheer sonic "whomp"... which isn't likely.

There have been some amazing basses mentioned here, but this is where I get every one questioning my sanity. There is no dream bass for me, the holy grail if you will, there are simply too many and every bass is an individual, but if forced to pick out of my collection...

I love my p-bass, I think I'd be happy with it alone. The only problem I'd have if I couldn't get another bass would be incurable GAS.
Never sell. This bass is a Gas killer. After a trip to GC or something, and there is a million basses I want, I play this bass. Then my thought is "How could none of those basses nail this tone!?". And of course, its my favorite tone.
