well this is an interesting poll. I'd probably take a well constructed upright and a fender P bass. I don't play upright and I hate Fender basses. but this way I'll be able to make a canoe out of the upright and use the fender to paddle myself home
and if that doesn't work I can make a little hut out of the upright and use the fender for clubbing my food.


Modulus 6 and a godin sd pro 4 would be what I played

If I could only have two, then it would have to be my trusty Gibson Thunderbird and my beat up old Kay upright, because I truly could not fathom going on as a bass player without either of them. At this point in time, they are each like an integral part of my personality.

However, it'd be nice to have a 5, so if I could add a third, it'd be a Sadowsky - probably Vintage 5.

I havent had many expeiences with basses et. have tried a bunch though. Some were good sounding but uncomfortable.

But if I had 2, I would what the bass that Justin Chancellor has just to have it. I love Tool:) Dunno how it sounds but has to be good right.

Then mine I guess. ppl diss on it alot but I think it's fine. It stix out in a crowd of fenders and sounds great. I thik it's really underrated. Not the best but its good enuff for me.

Well itd have to a EB/MM stingry 5er(my current bass), and a Fender 1962 American Vintage Jazz(what I am saving up for), becuase theres pretty much no rock tone those two cannot handle, and its great to have the option of a four or five string, depending on if I'm going to be utilizing the B or not. Not to mention that the fact that both of those basses look extremely NICE>.

are there no original ideas left? is everybody just knocking everyone else off? is it solely a race to the next exotic top... thuya burl..spalted maple...crotch walnut...fodera look-alikes...copy shape and we have contact! i mean come on!...don't any of these builders have an original idea? yuk!! boring!!

I’m going to try and be as diplomatic as I can to this response and might I add, your statement is unoriginal in it self. How many times have you seen someone makes the same statement, you be a little more original. This Thread is for fun and people to show off their toys. Why must you come here just to stir trouble?!

As for the Single cutaway, well it was around long before Fodera or Anthony Jackson. But as to AJ letter in BP it would seem he came up with the SC idea, so why is it copying Fodera? It wasn’t really their idea according to AJ! I do believe Fodera/AJ made the SC more exciting looking and really made bass players look at other ways to design basses appearance. Bass players are more exceptive to different body shapes (at least most) then our counter part guitars players who must have a guitar that looks like a strat, LP or PRS.

And to be honest with you on the original idea, no one has had one since the first bass guitar was invented. Everyone has taken that original idea and experimented with it and evolve it into to days basses.

If your going to argue the originality part all builders need to quit using active electronics since Alembic did that as well as the multi exotic neck through construction. And I could go on and run through a number of techniques used today by all builders that were not their idea.

Give it a break and be bitter in your own world!

sorry for the misunderstanding. it wasn't my intention to sound bitter because i'm really not. my intention was to really say that all of it has become very boring to me and not many are really stretching the envelope in my opinion or peeling back the onion and trying to figure out how to come up with something that's out of the box and innovative and requires a new approach to leo fenders design. you obviously know alot about basses and i applaud you for that and sorry if i offended you, it was not my intention. i'm new and just did a little research in the last few minutes to find you represent the above said bass. sorry, i didn't mean to single it out but in general stick by my maybe uninformed OPINION -
to me once you get past the hardwood stage escpecially in the bass category there's likely little difference in sound between all these exotic topped basses - hence, most of them to me look like "window candy" more than anything. I get worked up over new sound and new ideas and innovation - i'm sorry brian but an exotic top with an inch of poly on it looks like any other exotic top with an inch of poly on it, with a fodera AJ spin on it or not. Not meant to sound bitter, mean or unhappy - just MY ever so humble opinion! again i apologize to you and folks on this thread for seeming that way and for raining on your chum you threw into the tank.
