If you could only own one amp

Bergantino B|amp: has built-in high and low-pass filters, tuner, compression, overdrive or distortion, highly tweakable EQ (freqeuncies and Q), memory slots, 700W, and is pretty neutral sounding if you want. Just add your favorite preamp pedal in front and you have a new sound. Need more? Jim Bergantino is very helpful on the forum here and is constantly improving the amp via firmware updates. If I could only have one amp, this one is it. Good luck with your search.

I like to keep the amount of gear I have to a minimum. This question came up since I’m branching out into heads, cabs and/or larger combos. I’m wondering what would be the perfect amp to carry around from home to playing with other amplified instruments.

I didn’t want to ask this question just for myself but hope others could chime in on what their idea of a “jack of all trades” amplifier might be.

Line 6 L3T powered speaker. In fact this is what I am planning to buy (unless I discover something better) and forget about purpose made bass amps altogether, I played through one last year and I enjoyed the transparency so with the way Amp modelers have developed and will continue to develop this is the direction I think I'll be going in the future.

No amp at all. Probably a Quad Cortex instead. I'm not sure I was invited to this party.
To stay on topic, I would pair it with a Barefaced Big Twin II and a monster power amp.

I'd get Andy's Walkabout-flavored Mesa Subway head, and a pair of the single 12's. Easier to move than a single 212, head goes in the bag, plenty loud enough, tone for days. Done deal.

I've got an Ashdown Electric Blue 180w 15 inch combo. Would be just perfect. Can play in the flat without annoying the neighbours, keeps up with a drummer at rehersal and has an XLR out ro go into the PA when gigging. Can add an 8 ohm cab too. Love this amp.

This is my bedroom rig which I bought for multiple purposes. Still awaiting a rehearsal and a gig eventually, as we're looking for a drummer. Sounds amazing to my ears.....

I have a Genzler Magellan 800 and one Genzler BA12-3 cabinet. Back in the '70's and '80's I had some monsters but nothing then or now comes close to putting a smile on my face like this lightweight combo once I click the on button. Maybe a second cabinet might make the package perfect but for my real needs (in my dreams a stack of three of these cabinets might be most ideal), I can't think of anything better.

Hands down, it's the Mesa TT800 and Subway 115 I currently own. It had been YEARS since I bought a new bass rig before I got it. I always bought used. I have been thrilled with it ever since day one. It was worth every penny.

I kept going back and forth over getting a second 115 or a 215 in its place. But the more I play through that 115 cab the more I resign myself to sticking with that cab.

All of it is lightweight. The sound and volume are fantastic. The features on the head make it a great headphone practice amp as well as a live amp.

I love it. For once, I don't mind jumping on a bandwagon.

GK 700Rb + GK Neo 2x12 . Wait.. it's my only amp :D
I've a second 700Rb head with a GK 115 at our pianist basement, which is my rehearsal amp. It's also my backup but never had to use it as a backup.
And i definitely prefer the Neo 2x12. I've to buy a second 2X12 one day to replace the old 115 and have a complete real backup.

What would be wrong with the Aguilar Class D heads -- TH 500 or AG 700?
