In the market for one. Want to make sure it is a lined fretless. (no flame wars please...I have a very good reason to go lined)

Carvin SB4001 and still have a bit left over! I think you can get lines on the fretless neck.

I would go with a used Pedulla Buzz also. Unless you've played one of these, you've never played fretless, and once you've played one of these nothing else will compare. AWESOME!!!!

Definitely try a Pedulla, they are a bit dramatic-sounding for some people but impressive nonetheless.

I would also consider a Godin A4 if it's a studio bass you're after, they sound fantastic but they are very neck-divey on the strap.

If you are buying new, you can take a look at the Roscoe Century Standard 4. I heard the diamondwood fingerboard and the stock Bart CBs kill for a fretless. You can ask/search around in the Roscoe forum for more details.

Well I wouldn't say that, necessarily . In fact, 2 grand is almost enough to get 2 Carvins brand-new like my 2 Bunnies here.

For sure you can one of any of their models for less than 2 grand. I'm partial to the BB, but the SB series is really nice too. They're all available in lined FL too...
