If you had to choose one brand...

3 out of the 4 bass pedals on my board are MXR, so I’m gonna go with MXR.
Fuzz - MXR
Compressor - JHS (but I want to try out the MXR bass DynaComp mini pedal)
Flanger - MXR
Reverb - MXR
I like MXR because they’re affordable, built solidly, widely available and sound good.
TC Electronic for tuner and looper. Don’t really need a tuner or looper on my board right now though, so it’s easy not to count them. Ibanez Overdrive - would love to have it available, but i can only fit 4 pedals on my PedalTrain Nano

ZOOM, really, nothing like it as per bang for the buck. I ditched my last Boss unit some 15 years ago (GT-6B, noisy, poor effects, horrible anachronic "modules" approach), kept an ME-8B because of the filter/synth, even tho' I haven't used it for a decade. Other than that and a SansAmp RBI I use mostly for recording I've always ran on Zoom's cheapest multieffects (BFX-708, 708II -kept it-, B2.1u, now MS-60B). This is the cheapest (yet best) Jazz Bass I've had recorded thru' my MS-60B into my (also) Zomm R24 multitrack recorder.
And this is guitar&bass recorded directly into the R24 with just its built in effects (drums are programmed with a multisample Hydrogen kit I've built thru' the years). Too hard to beat Zoom. 99% complaints I've read/heard are either about the multieffects paradigm itself (to each their own) or just from people not into the menu navigation culture, hardly ever about tone. All Zooms I've played have tone for days and no noise (except for my first one, a BFX-708 which was certainly noisy), PROVIDED YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, WHAT EFFECTS DO (90% of people lack the basic knowledge of what to expect from a certain EQ band or what compression does), WHAT YOU WANT, AND HOW TO GET IT.
No matter how much money I had to stupidly burn on it, my only effect GAS nowadays is a Zoom B1X four (99€ 'round here).

there have been a few versions over the years, and more variations of those for holidays and special events.

I have the Octabass and consider it the best octave pedal I've ever used. Also my Reidmar 750 head has a built-in one-knob version of their Mulitcomp pedal and it's very responsive and useful. I would likely buy the Multicomp pedal if I needed a more extensive compression solution.
Plus every demo I've heard of their Multidrive (on my GAS list) sounds great.

I'd go with EHX, because I'd consider my three most important effects types to be (in this order) envelope filter, muff-style fuzz, and chorus. I'm already using EHX for two of those. I'm using Stomp Under Foot for a muff, but I see some of the newer EHX units have a midrange control, which is what brought me over to SUF in the first place.
I rarely use more than a pedal or two when playing bass (and more often none) but have utilized some larger boards when playing guitar or keys. For sheer bang for your buck and variety you can't go wrong with EHX or MXR. EHX probably has the greater variety but I have never ever had an MXR stomp fail in any way...including some from their early days that still work perfectly despite some very rough combat boot stomping and general poor treatment.
