It would have to be either MXR or Way Huge, neither of which I have tons of on my final boards... Or, actually, the dark horse here, DOD.
MXR - They have a variety of great effects, but nothing effect-wise is my #1 in its category. But I love a quiet rig, and am a huge fan of their Smart Gate and Noise Clamp as well as their Bass Octave Deluxe. I could make a perfectly serviceable rig with MXR.
Way Huge - Plenty of great effects, and some have made my #1. The modded Pork Loin is my #1 drive for sheer usability in any setting. The Echo-Puss is my favorite delay. But they have no noise suppressors, and don’t do other types of effects I’d like at all. I don’t think they’ve ever done an envelope filter or octave pedal, for instance.
DOD - Throughout their history, they have made everything. Some classic, some not so classic. In truth, I already have an all DOD board (3 actually, but two are guitar based). It’s a dual purpose guitar/bass practice board, and it works, but nothing is my “favorite”. They’re also pretty affordable.
If we were talking guitar, however, DOD all the way. My two identical all DOD boards are like 95% as good as my other “main” boards, and cost far less. They just don’t hold up as well on bass.
No, like I said, it’s a fun practice board/s for guitar. Started as a joke since I got most of them so cheap, but then I just fell in love with them! Far better than they’re often given credit for. Guitar-wise, of course.I had an all DOD pedalboard in the 80s … it was nice but I would not go all one brand again
I did just use the line6 bass pod as my only pedal for a while … it had great mid and nice distortion, but there was a certain reality missing from it.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen Aguilar on here. Not perfect pedals, but they cover ask the necessary bases!
BOSS:Curious question: If you could only use one brand of effects pedals for your entire bass rig. Which one would it be and why?
Not very popular but
MXR
I love their compressor.
