Whoa, hang on a sec.

I thought the whole reason anyone plays any instrument is to play as fast as they can, and squeeze as many notes as possible in each measure, so everyone will say "Wow, that guy can play fast!".

My advise is to forget about rhythm, phrasing, feel, the groove, and the music itself. All those things are overrated...



I mean, what's the point of playing if you can't play fast?

Or how 'bout this, maybe people should concentrate more on playing their instrument well instead of worrying about "Never selling out" "Being Hardcore", or "Being the Heaviest Band Around".

Also, how about if those guys who have been playing for 6 months worry more about learning proper harmony than buying that expensive Warwick/Les Paul and Ampeg/Marshal because they think it will make them play better.

I know were you guys are coming from when you say that you get recognition for slap... It seems that every non-bass player loves slap...personally I love complicated bass lines... And I like it when bands let the bass take center stage and I enjoy listening to music where the bass play's the melody and the electric plays background, or where they take turns... it makes for much better music in my opinion... I am a firm believer in less slap.
