iGiG Bags at NAMM...

Update on my iGiG.

A year and a half later the bag still looks as new. The zippers are rock-solid and the shell material is still perfect. The only "issue" that I have seen is that the grippy-rubber that surrounds the middle handle (on the face of the bag) has begun to crack. It is still soft and does not seem to be shedding any material but it is certainly having some sort of terminal failure. It does not look like a part that I can readily replace either as the handle is very strongly attached (and I not complaining about that!) with rivets. Very sturdy. I hate to do it but I may have to use my number one repair material....duct tape. Gonna serisouly detract from the looks of an otherwise excellent condition bag.
I am not going to do anything until it actually rips off though.
Still love this bag and would certainly buy another.

I have a much cheaper gig bag that lasted 2 years before anything started falling apart. It's a Kinsman case. Cost me £30.

That's great. Can it carry your bass, your amp/head, your tuner, your strap, your amp, cab & instrument cables, spare batterries & cables & strings & pencils & charts and tools too? Always interested in a better mouse-trap. Got pics?

Zombie thread, I know, but I searched and this is the only thread I found that explicitly mentioned the one-main-zipper thing for the iGig double gig bag. I've had a Mono M80 single bag (would still have it but I just shipped a bass in it today). Like everything about it pretty well except for the paucity of pocket space (main gripe) and the lack of a handle on the front (minor gripe), though I realize that adding to either could compromise the slim profile (but a handle on the front, guys...).

Igig -- pockets, handles -- all looks very attractive, and all been covered before. Really tempted to try one of their single cases. If I get the iGig, one bag. If the Mono, two (one bag for amp, etc.) Unless it's a big amp day, then it's a gigbag and a rack regardless, but those are rare. And I digress.

Looking for a double bag. Won't need one often, but when I do it will be to carry a fretted and a fretless. Was hoping the iGig had two compartments, like the Mono, but maybe it's not a big deal? How likely am I to bang one bass on another when loading/unloading from the bag? How likely am I to bang the bass I've just removed on something when I'm zipping the case back up somewhere crowded? Perhaps I'm over-thinking this. I'm sure I'll be able to manage with whichever one I get.

Disadvantage of a separate bag for amp, etc.: One more thing to carry (a bag I have to set down to open doors or which slips off my shoulder is more of a pain to me than more weight on my back).

Advantage: Don't have to remember to move amp, etc., to whichever gigbag I'm walking out the door with. (Don't think I'd forget the amp, but I might forget a cord.)

Misc. Get a cart? Maybe. One more thing...

Rambling -- some of this I'll have to figure out myself, but I'm interested to hear people's impressions, particularly re. the double bags and especially if they've used both.

For the double bags, I prefer the Mono. The separate compartments and the way they load in and out of the bag is perfect. For a single, it's really about preference and what you need. As you stated, the iGig is great for pockets and room for extra stuff. I own both singles and probably use the iGig single over the Mono. You can still get a micro head in the pouch of the Mono but there is not room for much else when you do it. But the Mono double is my go to double bag.
