iGiG Bags at NAMM...

My iGiG has a pretty sturdy zipper and reinforced material and stitching but in any case (get it? Ha!), I was just guessing.
A single zipper is fine for me since I will use it as a primary/secondary bass thingy. The one on top will always be coming out.
If this new bag is as rugged as my current one, I will start saving my pennies now.
I use my current bag at least three times a week and it still looks new.

I very much like my iGig single bag. Very nice design and very high quality. It's my main bag with my Alleva-Coppolo LM5 (which is my main bass).

The single/double zipper thing is, as most things, personal taste. I just like the security of having each bass in a completely separate compartment.

Thanks for all the comments and feedback! We are open to all your suggestions, so please keep the comments coming. This is the best way to improve our bags.

The main reason for having just one compartment for 2 bags is to make the bag as slim as possible. We wanted to avoid having a double bag that is too thick, bulky, and heavy. The main idea behind the design of our double bag is portability and protection which was requested most by our touring and working artists.

+1 Partner.... Before the birth of iGiG DUO Ive always zipped up my undercover double gigbag before after pulling out one bass.... iGiG 515DUO is best on comfortably and portabilty, and those categories has always been first choice for me.But everyone s comment is valid.

Just picked up a Mono case (I guess I'm a sucker for these high end hybrid bags).

VERY nice (as is the iGig). Very different designs, but both very high quality:

Protection: About equal.... more than a traditional bag, less than the more meaty Sadowsky Portabag (I have one) and especially the very sturdy Slimbag (yep... I have one of those:D). The main difference is in the side panel stiffness. The Portabag and Slimbag have hard sides. The iGig and Mono have 'stiff sides', but still with a lot of give.

Weight: Mono is about the lightest hybrid case I've come across. If you are looking for the best 'weight to protection' ratio, the Mono is it

Fit and finish: The Mono has the edge... really high attention to detail and 'design. The iGig has no problems either, but the Mono looks like it should be in the NYC Museum of Modern Art.

Pockets and storage: The iGig RULES. You can fit EVERYTHING in that case.. huge double front pocket and neck pocket. Similar to the very nice Mooradian bags in storage, but MUCH better protection for the instrument. The Mono is at the 'low end' of pocket size (adequate for strap, tuner, cables, and a set of strings, but not much else). The Sadowsky Portabag has lot's of pocket space also, with the Slimcase kind of falling in between.

Strap comfort: Both are great, and both are superior to the Sadowsky Portabag. The current Slimbag model has that very complex 'Alpine Backpack system' that is top of the line if you are walking 5 miles with your bass, but a pain in the **s for the typical schlep from the parking garage to the gig. I greatly prefer the iGig and Mono straps, which are very high quality but 'simple'. Both seem a little more 'meaty' than the very nice Sadowsky bag straps.

Both are very nice. I bought the Mono since its cloth interior seems to be appropriate for the one bass I own that is Nitro finished.

So, if you have some cash to spend, the Mono is king for uber lightweight protection, and the iGig bag is king for massive storage. Both are 'top of the game' for their design goals IMO!

My main bass (AV RI) is nitro. Do you feel that the iGiG interior will wear on the nitro finish? That's some "mojo" I'd prefer to avoid.
FWIW, I have been using my iGiG about three times a week since I bought it. But.....I have been rotating three different basses in it (all nitro) and I have not noticed any rub marks or anything.
I do get some odd sqeaks outta the bag that I think are related to the occasional cleaner/wax I use on the bass so I guess something is rubbing on something (duh) to make the noise but like I said, I have not noticed any wear.

The Nitro thing seems to be complex (i.e., no simple answer regarding one bag or the other). The iGig interior seems to be more of a plastic type of thing, so I would be a little worried about that (but only if I stored the bass in the bag for long periods of time). The Mono does have some 'mesh' covered support areas at the bottom of the bag and at the neck support, but they felt that it was 'Nitro safe'. Most of the interior is cloth, similar to the old Reunion Blues lining material.

Miko might be able to weigh in on this.

I'm surely no expert on this, but it's not a matter of 'clean', but rather the unfortunate properties of Nitro that result in it having a chemical reaction with some plastic materials.

Further complicating the whole thing is that Nitro is just a 'class' of finish, and there are also many different plastic compounds. So, it's kind of a crap shoot regarding the issue.

The worst that will happen is that you will notice some clouding of your finish. If that happens, just buff it out, and then eventually get another case.

is there any plastic armor inside the bottom end of the iGig bags??

i'm so wary of gigbags that don't have some sort of harder protection on the bottom edge of the bag.. padding usually isn't enough, neither are the rubber scuff pads..

i'm really interested in the Dual iGig bag, because it seems like it's the closest to the Ritter Dual bags which i intended to purchase.. and although i've seen them for sale in the UK, i can't seem to find them here in the US..

also, someone needs to make a bag that actually has an internal frame like a decent backpack.. it's not that i'm planning to hike with one on my back, but the additional support would help immensely with heavier loads and being able to move while it is on..

i think the shipping isn't because of the bag's weight, it's the size of the box that it's being shipped in.. lately, the shippers have been jacking up shipping on everything..

$300 for a bag is a bit much, though.. IMO..

We use a thick EVA pad that protects the bottom of the bass and its strap pin. This is a standard on all our single bags.

We charge a flat rate of $20 for shipping which is way below the actual shipping amount. Shipping companies charge by the size of the box and from CA to the end of the east would be around $30+. Average cost for shipping a double gig bag is around $25.

Fedex has been the most reasonable shipping company as far as cost for us. They just sent us a notice this week saying that there will be a 9% increase in shipping prices next year. So that is not good for any of us who ship basses, amps, and all sorts of bass gear regularly.

what about the dual case?? so it's just thick EVA, no corrugated plastic board?? how are the pads attached?? are they sewn in, or on velcro pads?? i ask, because i would like to add a polyethylene plastic sheild into the case myself, but wouldn't want to void any warranties..

i do like the style and utility of the iGig Dual, but i want to make very sure that the case will protect the bottom of the bass..

The double bag has no EVA but a thicker foam padding at the bottom. All padding and EVA are sewn in.

Are you concerned about protection from an impact to the bottom of the bag, or protection from objects penetrating into the bag and damaging the bass? I would have thought that impact protection is generally a higher priority in these designs, which would necessitate padding to absorb shock, rather than armour.
