iGiG Bags at NAMM...

My black 515 was delivered today. My first impressions is that it is very attractive. It wasn't as rigid as I expected from the pictures however. I was expecting something rigid like my Incase Slim bag based on the photos. However, it is more like my Nordstrand gig bag. It can stand on it's own, but it's more "floppy" (for lack of a better word) than my incase slim bag. The pockets do seem very well thought out, as there is a pocket for most anything imaginable. My LMII fits in the front compartment very well, and seems similarly protected as it was in the gator small mixer bag I was carrying it around it previously. The extra pockets will make carrying the necessary cables, tuner, etc., very easy. I'm not too sure about the side padding on the case though. It's there, but I'm not sure to what extent it would protect my bass in the event of a fall or what have you. For comparison, my very well padded, very rigid incase slim bag (holding my MTD 635) survived a fall down some slippery steps, and the MTD came out with out a single problem. I'm not sure the iGiG would do the same for me, but I sincerely hope I don't ever fall down the stairs again while carrying bass gear, or ever for that matter.

However, my main intention of buying this bag was to make one less bag I have to carry while running in and out of rehearsals and gigs. With my LMII in the iGiG with my bass, I now only have the gig bag on my back and a cabinet in my hands and I'm good to go.

I just ordered 2 black 515s! Should be here in a couple of days. I think the features they offer and the look are fantastic! I'm really tired of lugging hsc's(at least 3)to all our gigs! I have 2 more basses that need gig bags, so I'll see how these work and decide if I'll order 2 more or something else!

While hanging out at the Schroeder booth (which had the bags) I noticed that these caught a lot of attention, from a lot of named players too - I got to meet them all since I was just there!

I bought one of these yesterday, and they're awesome! Very well thought out. Fits my new Nordy VJ5 perfectly (Nordy was a gift from my band leader), and Ed & Miko are the nicest cats you'll ever meet! Bravo guys, continued success with iGiG! Now TBers, buy one, or two.......NOW!

Anyone know how these compare to the Mono bags? I have one of the Mono M80 bags. My only complaint with that one is that it rides high. This looks like it will not. The M80 is also very light. Any thoughts from anyone who was seen or used both?

This is what Mark from Bass Direct (UK) answered to the same question:

The iGiG is much stiffer, almost like a hard case and the M80 is more flexible. They weight about the same with the iGiG having the most storage and being slightly larger.

Finally I ordered the iGiG and it is fantastic. Best gigbag I ever owned!

The iGiG rides low enough that I do not need to duck through doorways (though I still do). I have caught the top as I entered some low stairwells (goin' up).
Mine is holding up well. I use it three or four times a week but not always fully loaded as I do not always need the LMII, depending on where I am heading.
Not sure if this is a feature or not but my case also stands by itself when fully loaded. That is pretty handy when you can't find some place to lean it.

I'm digging mine a lot.

The positives:

- Rides lower on the back than some other hybrid cases
- Great quality (zippers, materials, etc.)
- Pockets, pockets, pockets... wonderful
- Weight is about what other hybrid bags are

The negatives:

- As posted by Tony G., this execution of a hybrid design is a bit closer to a gig bag than a case, versus the more sturdy side panel design of the Sadowsky Porta Bag and especially the SlimBag

- Those neck strap things that hold the bass neck inside the case seem relatively useless to me, since the bass has no room to move around inside anyway. Minor thing there.


All in all, I really dig it. I actually purchased it so that I could use the very cool 'mini rack bag' that comes with the TecAmp Puma heads. The downside is that the rack bag has no storage pockets for cables, exetension cords, etc., due to the need for the top air vent. The iGig bag pocket design allows me to assign a large pocket just for the 'amp stuff', and then have plenty of additional separate storage space for the bass oriented stuff. Really nice design.

Quite frankly, I can't quite see adding another 6-10 pounds to the weight of that case by carrying a micro amp along with a bass with all the bass stuff (tuner, cables, strap) and all the amp stuff (strip, speaker cables, etc.) That would be too cumbersome and heavy for me to personally deal with. However, the pocket design does allow for a LOT of stuff!

If you are in a rush..Mono offers a double bag. I have been very pleased with my Mono single. But, I may try an iGig single. I have a Levy's double that works when I need one but I do need another single bag.

I just wanted to bring this thread back up because of how much I love the igig bag. I use it everyday(I'm a music student and I commute) and a lot of nights(gigs and practice and whatnot) and this bag has worked great. Because of how often I carry my bass around I've got through a couple of bags(they just end up falling apart at the seams). I've had this bag for 6 or 8 months now and it shows no signs of wearing out. It also fits everything I need on any given day I have a real book, a few lesson books, cable, Miko was also a huge help when buying it. I needed a new bag pretty quickly and he was able to work something out for me. This bag is on the higher end as far as cost, but it's so worth it.

Used mine twice today. Once with just the bass and bits for church and then back out again this afternoon with the LMII and extra cables to support that head and cab.
Still finding new stuff to put in there. I am adding a second instrument cable now as I keep running into players who have forgotten theirs.
One thing I have found is that I have somehow managed to induce an annoying squeaking sound when I am fully packed with the LMII. I need to take a look at how I am packing stuff as it is real loud to the point of being funny, like squeaky shoes.
I am (still) impressed by the strength of this bag, especially the handles that bear up when this thing is fully packed. A lesser bag would have shed its handles a long time ago.

Hey everyone, we are new to the forum. Our double cases are indeed out and we've been getting some great reviews on them. Check out the Premier Guitar video for a closer look.



We figured out a great way to eliminate some of the woes that double cases often come across. Each bass sits in its own compartment instead of using a padded foam divider. We've also incorporated our neck brace into both compartments. Look out for more viral videos to come out really soon, we've been tracking some of our artists around town and have shot video of them using the gear. Peace.
