Took a second look when I saw the TG.
My 52 doesn't have TG or the D stamp but is certainly a 52.

I'm sure they're fantastic. I've heard plenty of demos of the guitars and they all sound great.

Nacho is such an authority on these instruments that I'm sure these basses are as faithful as it gets.

I actually like the nod to the builders, plus the other marks.

While I don't think these will increase in price over time, I think it'd be a joy to play one.

Hey guys, does anyone have in-hand experience with these basses?

I get that they are meant to be faithful repros of the original bass with some masterfully artful relicing…how’s the actual craftsmanship though? It looks to be stellar, but I have no way of trying one out…at $6500 apiece and a year long wait list, I’m intrigued but timid.

On a separate note, do you think they’ll gain value over time? Not that that’s a motivator, more of a mental mastur-youknowwhat exercise.

I’ve not played their basses but one of my guitarists has a Nacho Telecaster. It’s a nice guitar, probably on par with a custom shop. I’m not a fan of faking the initials, but if you like it, try it. Don’t know about resale value, probably lower than Fender as seems common with boutique instruments.

I have one. I bought it when I retired 5 years ago. As far as that style of bass goes with the single coil pickup it is the best sounding for nailing that tone. I also have a Fender Dusty Hill and I prefer the Nacho for tone. I may consider selling mine since I am 72 and not doing as much live playing as I once did. All I can say is , if you want it and like the tone and feel of the bass..........go buy it .

It was a great bass, but this was back in 89-90. So the price wasn't as stratospheric as they are today.

Mine was a bit of a puzzle since it had an aluminum pg [years before the gold anodized pg Fender would reproduce by 1957] and a 2 color sunburst [a couple years before Fender used it on the mid 50's P bass]. Neither George Fullerton or George Gruhn could determine if it was an employee one off [which was somewhat common in the early days] or why it was configured that way. It had the TG & date on the neck & Tadeo & date on the body.

That is a stunning recreation but the sig thing is wrong and maybe illegal. Its like a fake Picasso sooner or later it will end up on the market as legit until proven fake.

Yeah, faking the TD initial doesn’t sit right with me, kinda crosses the line from Tribute to Counterfeit in my mind, but to each their own. If any other builder except Fender tried this, they’d get sued damn quick.

That’s the thing… I think these are just fun “nods” to the masters of old. Sure the details of neck size, fretwire size etc are done to match the originals, but little details like this, or even the serial number on the neck plate instead of being stamped on the bridge demonstrate that these aren’t trying to be forgeries, just artful representations of cherished instruments. I’m kinda liking them more and more…I don’t love the price

Talented, but those sigs are totally forgery and way over the line.
Should use his talent to make his own instrument.
I sure hope he gets a cease and desist over it.
