I wouldn't alter it from original condition...
Maybe skip this one altogether and go for the de Gier Soulmate 51?
Gaining value aspect, are there any examples of repros that have significantly gained value? AFAIK instruments that gain value are when a builder has something unique, then sells the biz or for whatever reason no longer makes that instrument. If there is a desire for those no-longer-produced instruments that increased, the value can go up significantly.
For something like this to go up, there would have to be a significant increase in demand for them where people would pay extra instead of waiting for a new order, or an increased demand for them after the company were to fold and stop making the basses. Not sure about those odds.

Museum quality without fear of damaging an iconic original. I've played enuff 50's through 70's stuff to understand that I prefer the evolution and greatly appreciate modern instruments and the advancement of the technologies that make today's instruments so well crafted.
These are beautiful reproductions, absolutely down to the bone exquisite but I prefer a few upgrades that these wouldn't have.

Pricey for what it is. Nice relic job but for the price, one should be able to find a Fender Custom Shop '51 ish (used) on Reverb.com for the $3,500 to $4,000 range. More or less.

Exactly! Forging names(initials) is over the line and unethical. That bass is just a decal away from being the definition of "counterfeit".

The guitar guys on the gear page seem to love their nachocasters. Not my thing but they rave about the quality.

It is my favorite bass.
Both of your basses look amazing but I can't help thinking that the saddles look wrong. Is that really how they intonate? Usually the E must be longer than the other 3.
Anyway I much prefer the look of the 51-53 basses with the larger pickguard and less rounded edges. Enjoy these beauties!
