What are your reasons for being discouraged from recording?
I'm not discouraged at all, but then I only post in the Feedback Friday thread where if one's work was described as wasps in a can it would be taken as a great compliment.

I record all the time, and listen to the feedback. I will always have areas that I need to work on, so hearing people rip it apart has no negative impact for me. If someone is overly critical or a "heckler", it still doesn't bother me.

I thought I had nuked all my SoundCloud clips, but I made sure of it this morning. Those old recordings of the Rickenbacker G&L comparison were awful. I'll admit that, but to bring it up a year on is just not on!

If you really wanna stick it to the man you'll record yourself doing covers while staring eerily into the camera and post a new one every day.
I'll record something to get down a song idea and sometimes think it's quite brilliant. Later on, I'll be frustrated by how bad it sounds. I mostly record because multitrack recording is the the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I think it would be best if I were naked & the camera just barely misses my "personal zone"

There's a few hundred videos and recordings of me out in the universe. I don't share here because most link to a band page, and therefore some of my personal information. Certain members here have reminded me in the past why that is a bad idea.
And, honestly, I question the motive of this thread. I would have never seen the other comment had it not been linked here.....

I have enough confidence in my playing that I can handle criticism. I play what I play. Others may not like the song, the style, the genre, the tone of my bass, or for a hundred reasons not like what I laid down. That's fair. I didn't record it for THEM.
Ah, I just remembered I'll be playing bass, so there's no need to worry about the personal zone getting into focus.
This is exactly the point I was attempting to make.
Yeah, once I get to the "butthurt" part, I'm not reading anymore. Maybe you could make your point in a different way w/o insinuating someone violated me.
