I just ate a can of Chef Boyardee beef ravioli. Eating that as one's last meal could be an interesting premise. Never thought of myself as a concept album kinda guy before, but I think I sense a weighty recording project coming on...

the reason professional bands can sound so good on records is they have engineers and sometimes months in the studio ...

Seriously though, if I should be disheartened or discouraged by the amount of haters on the internet I might as well go kill myself.
For the love of it, please do keep up your miserable recording attempts for all the world to hear, whatever their opinions might be about them!
I almost guarantee that if you think it sounds good you will not be the only one in world who thinks so.
Hell, I might even be one of them, as I don't think I am familiar with any of your recordings as of yet.
Anyway, to your question:
The only thing that can discourage me from recording is if I am not able to get a sound that I think sounds good, and even then I record anyway if it is just for the sake of a reference sketch to an idea.
Beside that the only discouraging thing I can think of on top of my head is in the instances that I just keep shaging up on a part to the point of frustration.
Has happened before, I usually just let it rest for a while then and then get back to it when I have gathered my senses back together, or in that case when I was actually playing a part for a record keeped going anyway until I got it, and then let my frustrations out afterward by beating an innocent cardboard box to pulp and shreds

Killed by Death - you should continue to record yourself but instead of posting them online, keep them on a USB drive.
Just remember the reason why you picked up a musical instrument in the first place: It was something that you wanted to do, not because the trolls on the internet needed something to pass their time.
