And anyone wonders why I recently changed my icon to represent the typical vibe of posts on TB lately?

Anytime you feel like logging on to TB pull your bass out instead. Practice, don't post.
The way people treat other musicians whether they are good or bad at what they do shows their level of playing and musicianship. Someone who treats people badly and insults them just to make themselves feel better, are actually the ones that are not great players at all. Everyone has their strengths and weakness, real musicians know this and respect that they too were at that same level at one point.
As for recording, I don't do much myself, as I hate listening to myself and I become super hyper critical.
I'll take studio gigs, and play what they want, but I have better things to do then pump out a new video every day or week.
I play what I feel will fit the music, and for the most part people like it. Sometimes people dont, so I adjust.
Not everyone can afford a pro level recording studio for solo youtube bass covers (which I find annoying when its to the original recording and the person is playing note for note) or even bass comparisons.
I actually recorded an audition video with my friends this past weekend.
Audio is not that great, but that wasn't the point. We weren't trying to make hyper edited commercial recordings. We just knocked it out in a den and left it at that. I arranged it, and played it with a band. Do I care if someone hates it, nope!
In short, play for yourself, not for the approval of others.

Don't forget, if you have haters then you're doing something right! Clearly you're good enough for this guy to stalk you for over a year.

I've had recordings of my music in my signature for years and I've yet to receive any feedback at all...I've been waiting for someone to tell me I suck, and it hasn't happened yet
no compliments, either, so I continue to do what I do...it's for fun for me, anyway
I say none, as in no reason for not doing what I want to... as a matter of fact, you might as well remove the word, 'recording', and insert (________). As soon as you let some neanderthal steer you away from your goals, or aspirations, you lose a little of yourself... I've worked too hard to get where I'm at, to let some simpletons words, or actions, determine my course...
... I put those who choose to dent my armor into my virtual Space Cannon Series 5000, and fire away... those who make it past the decaying orbits of obsolete satellites, enjoy a one way ticket to the moon, sometimes beyond...

Well, I spent the last 15 minutes looking for the original studio version of "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. Unfortunately I couldn't find it on YouTube to post it here for the life of me. The reason I bring it up, is because IMHO, Ron Wood played probably the sloppiest, most unprepared, most mistake laden recorded bass part of all time on that track, and yet that tune went on to become a huge hit in popular music, even to this day. Anyways, I say all that to say ; don't be so hard on yourself man. Haters gonna hate , no matter which way you slice it.
Well, given that Jason has been a member for over 14 years, and still had only a third of the posts that KbD had in 2.5.....I'd dare say that he follows his own advice.
I learned this song this week and recorded it today. I'm not a "guitarist". Second take on the guitar track, first take on bass.

I've been playing Bass for 11 years and what I've learnt is, that there is no point listening to the haters. There's always gonna be someone who doesn't like your music no matter what you do. If you like it than that's all you need. Don't even give them a second thought.
I recorded myself once and discovered that I was the huge tool.....
Huge Tool is also a good name for a band.
