I'll never record again, ever.

I think it's a shame that on a site where we talk about how things sound so often a person would go out of their way to be negative about it. I'm sure it doesn't encourage anyone else to post.

It comes up once in awhile, subtly usually. Like someone will joke that they're going to record badly on their cellphone & post it, or say they used to respect my opinion until they heard me play.
When the same person does it over & over, I feel like it's counter-productive not to just me, but others seeing the splendid display of criticism.

Sounds like you got a cyberstalker.

I say play bass because playing bass is fun. If it ceases to be fun, stop. I bet there were plenty of people who didn't get where Lemmy was coming from, tonally, when he started developing his approach, but he did it and did it and found people who did like what he was doing. If the bass can be a tool for you to make a sound that you enjoy, that's valid/relevant/legit. Don't be heckled out of having fun.

Put another way, there's a school of thought that suggests that if you do something expressive and it pisses people off enough to offer up unsolicited and unconstructive criticism, you are probably doing something worthwhile...keep it up.

Yeah, that's not personal at all!
I'll never record audio or video of myself playing ever again, and the encouragement here has helped me solidify that.

What are your reasons for being discouraged from recording?
Luckily as it stands, the few recordings I've been lucky enough to play on went off well and so I have never been discouraged as of yet. If I were you , I would say screw all of these detractors and wet blankets, and I would immediately record the best sound clips of me playing bass I could (regardless of their quality) , and splatter TB, Youtube, and the internet in general with them. F@$k the man!

Record all you like. It could be instructive to hear what 3010LF with no tweeter sounds like. Only if you don't mind everyone else hearing something way different to you and telling you.

The quoted post is after last week's episode when you accused me of stalking for bringing up your hearing loss when you were giving out tonal advice.
