I never heard the recording that allegedly sounded like a can of wasps, but that aside, taking a shot at someone because of a hearing issue is pretty low class. Consider the source and only worry about criticism that is constructive.

I agree. In 1985 I was playing at a jam session on my 1st foray into New York. I had two older sax players take me aside and tell me "to play here you have to change your sound and here is how...."

Changed my paradigm.

I'm very happy with the recent album we recorded, but generally I don't like to listen to my own playing. There's audio and video of me out there that makes me cringe, most of it put up without my permission. I hate mobile phones and the narcissistic social media compulsion. One day society will collapse and the only way people will have of documenting their every experience will be with burnt sticks on cave walls, that'll slow things down

What are your reasons for being discouraged from recording?

Because of the feminine cleansing product Behavior of many folks here I absolutely refuse to post any audio video or photographic clips of me playing. End of story I am more than willing to share with people I consider close friends but strangers on an internet Forum forget it

Sounded fine to me. I wanted it to drift a little further afield into even weirder weirdness after the three minute mark like all good prog does. But it still sounded fine as is.

I sound like Kermit the frog. I play as a hobby and see no reason to document what I play (good or bad).

you are assuming you will never improve?

I've already improved since those year-old recordings, but I still prefer some overdrive in proportions that other can't appreciate.
I doubt I'll ever be to a point where I think recording myself is a good idea.
