Interesting thread, Robroy. Sounds like you are on top of everything and know just what to do. It will be interesting to see how things unfold (or unravel) over time.

Actually, this thread was a huge help. It allowed me to both consider new ideas and dump the ones I was considering that might not be a good idea. Sometimes you really need a sounding board, and that is exactly what this thread was.Interesting thread, Robroy. Sounds like you are on top of everything and know just what to do. My wife and I were looking for a church here after about a year and came upon this fairly large local baptist church. After the sermon, An "affluent looking" middle aged woman came up and introduced herself. She was all smiley faced and everything and brought up that she was on the county council. I mentioned that I had attended a couple of city council meetings and had some ideas about how to really revitalize the downtown area but that they "are, uh, not very baptist friendly". The smile left her face so fast you would have thought I threatened her life. She quickly excused herself.
I kinda winked when I said "baptist friendly". She knew exactly what I was talking about.LOL
How dare you say something AT church that does not only Edify her entire perception of herself, and EVERYTHING she participates in, but did not cow-tow to her sense of self importance.
You obviously AIN'T from around here.
Moist ? As in beer and wine coolers at limited hours?I kinda winked when I said "baptist friendly". She knew exactly what I was talking about.
This county went "moist" about a month before we moved here. It's on its way to dry very shortly. More and more counties are figuring out that "dry county" is synonymous with "poor county".

Even around here, everyone cracks up at "moist". I think it's the sexual inuendo. But it means restaurants can serve beer and wine with meals.Moist ? As in beer and wine coolers at limited hours?
It certainly conjures up something completely different to "exceedingly limited alcohol availability".Even around here, everyone cracks up at "moist". I think it's the sexual inuendo. But it means restaurants can serve beer and wine with meals.
BTW , Gershwin only played the black keys , and had his piany rigged to shift over some .
Just sayin' .
I don't know, not ALL of the 80's music was VIRTUAL.Music education doesn't get credit for being academic enough , since the 1980's .
Blame music from the eighties.
Keep in mind that the US, before the civil war, was very much like the EU. We were not called "THE" United States. We were called "THESE" United States. It was 50 "countries" tied together by a single, but constitutionally limited, federal government. The civil war changed that. It's not become very much like the old Soviet Union.Crazy, at least here we have one set of laws for the whole country, Although the police of some counties enforce them with more enthusiasm than others.
We had two gigs this weekend. After the second, we had a band meeting in the parking lot. It looks like it is imploding. That is actually a very good thing.
I've finally had my opportunity to gig all I want and I've decided that if I'm going to take the time out of my schedule it's going to have to be with like minded people of a similar skill level, lifestyle and goals. It's clear this band has morphed into something intolerable to ALL of the members. I've seen no emails or facebook posts since the meeting, but the wife of the BL quit and I eventually said that if she's out, I'm out.
It kinda reminded me of The Commitments. The crowd loved us but we were arguing during the breaks, both nights. I've never seen anything like it. And to be clear, no single person is "at fault". It's just turned into a very bad mix of characters. One side issue is that I've rubbed shoulders with some very rich and influential people, and am related to one, and have also befriended some folks at the bottom of the barrel. I really try to be, as Paul said, "all things to all men". But it's hard to work with people who come from such an utterly different background than mine and who really can't work with people not like them. I'm learning it's best to keep those relationships at arms length.
Unless I'm interested in getting some good meth, if you get my drift...
