I'm in trouble Ya'll

My baby sister plays trumpet and mandolin, and years ago she had a drummer boyfriend who got her to try bass. She calls me up and says "Now I know why you like this instrument! This is cool!" She's now been the hip bass player for the Oakland area blues band Rhythm Doctors for years, who love her because she has great time and is happy to play the parts the tunes need. And we have lots to talk about.

My SO is a working musician (piano) and she loves everything bass. That‘s how we met, after all! She knows the theory, I know the groove. We complement each other quite well 
My drummer wife took a liking to my G&L L2000 but doesn't really like to woodshed on it, so I think I'm safe.
I would be like Eric Clapton that almost quit when he heard Jimi for the first time. Clarinet and piano, so she can transpose on the fly probably, read bass clef and harmonically and melodically solid

She has good taste at any rate. And she’s a smart shopper too. A SUB Ray is a nice bass. A good bit of the MM vibe for about one ninth the price.

well it's been 31 years...pretty sure she's staying...lol
I've given some instruction to intermediate players in the past, but when I started teaching my wife, I was dealing with a complete newbie. (Well, not complete; she played violin and some guitar in the past.) Her left hand technique looked similar to the photo @Snakeman1066 posted. I never really think about my own basic technique so much, so I had to teach myself what I was doing before I could correct her technique. It was a really interesting and revealing process.
Know the feeling. I’ve been with mine since we both were 14.
We both turn 66 in a few months. And we’re still going strong.

lol i saw this recently...
i have been fencing and practicing Kendo and a form of Chinese Jian taijiquan for a few years...this past year some friends were filming a Star Wars Fan fiction film and they wanted me to be the Sith lord in the film...so after doing a lot of research i bought a Saber from Kyberlight and customized for myself (and became Darth Nocturnus...lol)...we have since purchased three more sabers from various companies and i have begun teaching her some techniques...
She however was already learning Kenpo and advanced to yellow belt in less than 12 weeks...i'm told it normally takes 14 weeks...

She's just paving the way for a bass clarinet. They're only about 3K

Her dad owns a music shop that services all of the local school districts and he is a hell of a Sax player himself...he has a cannonball that is ******** expensive...

The wife who has been a clarinet and piano player has decided to take on bass...I don't know whether to be scared or excited...
on one hand it could open up new shopping opportunities...on the other hand she might end up being better than me...
well at least i have drums...lol
That's exciting - my partner loves when I play, and she is much more aware of bass now in music, but isn't the least bit interested in learning. I imagine it will give you lots to talk about! New shared passions are definitely a good thing.
On the downside, she may get a Talkbass account and she might call you out on BS from time to time - I could see that leading to some heated discussions! Tonewood, P or J, tubes vs solid state... yikes.
