I moan. Do not discount it. A good 5 minutes of out-loud moaning every hour or so works wonders. Take deep breaths and slowly moan in a medium-low register. I usually keep my mouth closed, unless my sinuses are clogged, because it's easier to control the flow of air, but you've got to make the noise - not just controlled breathing.
It works wonders. You'll just have to try it.
Edit: Bonus - it gets you sympathy from people around you, at least until they can't stand to listen to you anymore. So I guess it's a double bonus.
No doubt about it: moaning is the way to go. I'll sometimes go literally days with nausea (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome), seemingly non stop... but the deep breathing moaning somehow helps. It will totally make you a pariah to anyone else in the house, though. Double bonus indeed, because those healthy people should suffer too... and get the hell out of the house so you can moan in peace. Otherwise, they get so pissed off that they force you into a car and take you to the hospital where you've been before and they have all run out of tests to give you; but that doesn't stop them from doing more-- poking and prodding you, putting die in your veins, wheeling you around to rooms each with a horrible loud machine in it that tells them there's nothing wrong with you. Maybe the IV saved my life a couple of times 20 years ago. These days, I prefer to suffer in the comfort of my own bedroom/bath. Now, Stumbo was pretty hard headed until he went in... I gotta respect that.
Fnord!
