I'm not feelin' too good myself...

Sorry to hear that, @Stumbo ... (and @DirtDog.)

I'd definitely recommend dragging yourself to a doctor, or, even better, have one come to you.
And lots of fluids, and a multivitamin tablet a day couldn't hurt too.
Seems like this is the season for knocking us back.

Thanks @Oddly ...

I'm starting to feel halfway human at this point. Starting to be able to breathe somewhat properly again and getting more than a couple hours sleep at night. Still get winded very easily, though and uncontrollable coughing is still a problem.

Second trip to the hospital earlier this week had me go through multiple tests on my heart and lungs, including a CT scan for possible pulmonary embolism! Whoa! All negative thankfully. Final determination was pneumonia, like before, but this time they game me sledgehammer antibiotics instead of the precision meds first time around that were ineffective against whatever non-typical bacterial infection I seem to have. What a difference a week makes.

Fortunately, I have more than enough sick leave banked to deal with this conservatively. Back to work next Monday, though.

Full body aches since Friday. No fever, no cough, or intestinal problems. So not the flu. Third time in six weeks. Only pain meds and water.

If I don't move and stay under a blanket I feel tiny bit better.

I did get out Friday afternoon and visit the Charter/Spectrum cable co. Just happens to be about 2 minutes away.

Upped my internet to 400 and got second DVR. Cut out all premium channels.

Like a new world!

I know this going to sound REALLY hokey and not:
1. When I feel like that, I wear sweatpants, a sleeveless shirt, and an Under Armor Hoodie. Has to be Under Armor for I only find them really cozy. Under a really warm blanket and sometimes laying on a Yoga mat on the floor with a pillow which brings me to #2.
2. When it's really bad (here comes the hokey part) I do Hatha Yoga DVD's. I know it sounds hokey but it works. I do crank up the space heater about 30-minutes before I do it.

Feel better soon, Stumbo. Like others said, now would be a good time to see a doc... especially if it's been a while and insurance is footing everything but a small co-pay. Curious who's prescribing the pain meds? Or do you mean ibuprofen like OTCs??

I moan. Do not discount it. A good 5 minutes of out-loud moaning every hour or so works wonders. Take deep breaths and slowly moan in a medium-low register. I usually keep my mouth closed, unless my sinuses are clogged, because it's easier to control the flow of air, but you've got to make the noise - not just controlled breathing.

It works wonders. You'll just have to try it.

Edit: Bonus - it gets you sympathy from people around you, at least until they can't stand to listen to you anymore. So I guess it's a double bonus.

Saw two docs. One Sunday at urgent care and one Wed. at the family practice center.

Urgent care doc says I have a skin condition on my scalp and a skin infection on the right side of my forehead( bright reddish/purple). Gives me shampoo, muscle relaxers and naproxen pain meds.

Family practice doc now says, 2.5 fsys later, I have shingles. One of the main differences between just a rash/infection and shingles is the massive pain I've been feeling.

Shingles virus attacks nerves. It's preceded by flu like symptoms. I had massive overall body aches that put me in bed before redness and scalp blisters. Psin from scalp was driving me nuts. 8-9 level.

You don't "catch it". It's all internal for people who have had chicken pox.

New doc gave me two additional pain pills, and an anti-virus pill. She also said to keep taking the antibiotic and naproxen. So, I'm taking 5 pills, 3 for pain and 2 for treatment.

It's going on day 9 since the body aches started. The redness on forehead/scalp blisters didn't arrive until Saturday. I saw first doc on Sunday. Second doc on Wednesday. So now, Friday, 3 days into full treatment I'm feeling better, maybe at 60%.

So, you think, why didn't that dumb guy just get the shingles vaccine?

Thing is, I did. What I have is about 50-75% less than you can get without the vaccine.

There's several others available out there as well, but that's all you'll get from me. I don't want to be blamed on case of an overdose
