I've been sold on the Carvin amps lately. It started with my purchase of a B800 and now I also own the B1500 and B2000 as well. I just recently sold my GK 1001RB-II, not because I didn't like it but because I simply didn't need it anymore. I still question that decision but whatever...it's done now.

I think the GK as an alternative route is definitely a wise choice. It sounded great, was totally reliable for me and was very loud. I've played some very demanding gigs with the GK and it held up just fine...never an issue with reliability. The only volume issue I had was frequently being asked to turn down LOL. If I didn't get turned on to the Carvin B series, I would have never sold it.

Good luck...hope the GK works out better for you.

And what really sucks is, had I not gone for the Carvin, I could of gotten the 2001. I sold my 400+ and had about 1g to get a new head. Did a bunch of reading, and the Carvin seemed like what I needed/wanted- wattage and tone shaping wise....so I jumped. And the rest of the money went, well....where ever extra money goes. Haha. So now all I have is the money I'll be getting refunded from Carvin to shop with, hence the 1001 instead of the 2001. Or even the M9. Oh well, I guess if the 1001 doesn't have big enough balls for me, they have pretty good resale value, I'll just save up some money, unload it and get something bigger?

UPS picked up the head from me on 4/2/10.

Carvin received it 4/8/10.

Still no refund.


Seriously, Carvin can K my A. I've now been without an amp for 2 weeks, and counting. Like others have stated, they've never had a problem, and if it works for them, awesome. Just wish my luck with these guys would have been better. This has been nothing but a hassle, a headache, and a complete letdown.

I played the BX500 for about a year and was very pleased with it. I now have the B2000 and it's a great head. I currently have it in the classifieds but not because I'm unhappy with it. I have nothing bad to say about their customer service either. Bart has been very helpful to me the few times I've spoken to him.

Thats frustrating - I'd be making some phone calls and putting the heat on.

Hopefully a 1001 RB II will be in your rig ASAP!

Bummer, all I can add for the general public reading this-I've had two Carvin B1500's and DCM1000 power amp and they perform flawlessly.
I also agree GK is fairly reliable but I've had more issues with those over the years than any Carvin, especially the much much older 400RB with something going out with the pre-amp stage-cutting in and out. The GK1001RB-II is a very good amp, I agree with others on that. I returned a Carvin BX500, not because of heat related though.

Well I hope that you have better luck with the GK gear than I have. I left them years ago due to quality and finally came back for a short time recently because everyone said that their gear was much better now. They were partially correct. It sounded very nice (100RB II) but out of 2 heads, one had to get a new daughter board within the first 6 months and the other started crackling for the first 5-10 minutes when you turned it on.
Fool me once, fool me twice but you won't fool me 3 times. I'm done with GK.

wow. good luck with that Shawn (and i'm not kidding).
its really a shame that their CS has kinda put you on the back burner for so long, and making people aware of it on this forum can't possibly show them in a positive light.

when you see how manufacturers like Genz Benz, GK, QSC and Peavey handle various CS situations, its no wonder that people rave about them.
