Yeah, tonight was the last night for it. I was fighting the urge all weekend, back and forth, but decided to hold off. I'm sure one of the big box retailers will have another 20% off sale eventually...maybe around Christmas (if you can wait that long. I doubt I can)
FWIW, You might want to add the SB14 to your shortlist.
Neck profile is closer to the Jazz... with a sound that's in the same ballpark (perhaps even more aggressive than the Ray)
IMO, the 44-01 has more of a modern "finess" sound than a vintage/classic sound.
Build quality is very good on both the Skylines and Sterling By MusicMan basses.
If you've got a GC nearby... you really need to go play both.
Did you try the thread that Eric linked for you in the LOG thread?can someone who owns a Lakland 44-01 tell me if they can get that thick growly tone?
