im super stuck! (Ray34 vs Lakie 44-01)

killer deal there i think that ends tonight:crying: i wont have money for like a week/

Yeah, tonight was the last night for it. I was fighting the urge all weekend, back and forth, but decided to hold off. I'm sure one of the big box retailers will have another 20% off sale eventually...maybe around Christmas (if you can wait that long. I doubt I can)

FWIW, You might want to add the SB14 to your shortlist.
Neck profile is closer to the Jazz... with a sound that's in the same ballpark (perhaps even more aggressive than the Ray)

IMO, the 44-01 has more of a modern "finess" sound than a vintage/classic sound.

Build quality is very good on both the Skylines and Sterling By MusicMan basses.
If you've got a GC nearby... you really need to go play both.

+1111111
on the Sterling
I love my Jazz and the neck profile
I still dig the P Bass profile as well but prefer the Jazz
and the Sterling is very comfy

The 4401 is definitely an aggressive sounding bass, especially in the ash/maple combo, and is less "old-school" sounding than the 4402. The Bartolini MK1 pick/pups (each when used solo) can give a decent impression of a P or J, but with a snappy, modern twist. It can sound plenty "growly", but If you are trying to replicate a Stingray, get the Ray34 and don't worry about it's apparent lack of versatility. The Ray and your Jazz bass will make a great compliment to each other. Just my 2 cents.

wow thanks guys! im probably leaning towards the ray34 since Limeman said that the two might be a great combo and im probably gonna want to save for a Lakland later

i was looking at bass central last night and wondered why the ray 34 was alot cheaper it's not american made is that correct kinda new to bass gear , i do love the music man basses though . i would get one , lakland is nice too though.
