im thinking 4 string

So a few weeks ago I posted a thread about gettin a 5 string Schecter verses a 4 string and we discuss pros and cons. I had almost made up my mind to get a 5 string until i took a trip once again to Guitar Center and played the 5 strign once again. I was interested in how the strng spacing would affect my slapping. I didnt have much of a problem there but i felt stupid playing it because i got all confused between the strings (as i only a 4 stringer up to this point). This discouraged me. So i thaught of the pros and cons:

I really dont know anything on the B sring and would probably never use it.

However i do like the tone i get out of a 35" scale bass.

I like the string spacing for my small hands.

but it will take a while to get used to.

and a 5 string will be $50 mosre expensive.

What do ya'll think?

I think if you're happy with a 4 string and not happy with a 5 string, it's a no-brainer. Get a 4 string.

I really enjoyed my Schecter, but I agree that the 5 string can be more of a loss than gain. I liked the added flexibility, but never lived up to the potential.

Now, almost 5 years since I sold that Schecter, I'm in heaven with my USA Peavey Millenium. If you really want a more professional instrument, consider:

Not quite the deal I got (Musicians' friend closeout), but worth every penny of the 1099$ MSRP. A stunning instrument. Just food for thought.

I don't like the tight string spacing of 5 string Schecters, their 4 string models are almost perfect for me though. I'de get the four string.

I started out on a 4-string, played a 5-string for a while, even stepped up to a 6-string for a year... and came back to the 4 and it's like home for me.

With any new string addition there will be an adjustment period. It won't feel natural for a while but once it does you have that many more options.

its my second bass. i already have a 4 string squier mb-4. I like it better than other squires that ive tried. it has p nd ja pickups. i am mor of a j guy over the p but i love the fullness of a humbucker (not split). The emg's on the schecter sound amazing. i dont find the springs on a 35" very tight however. in fact kind more loose. idk how that can be. maybe cuz GC doesnt care if the guitars are in tune or not. the one i tried was proly way out. *no reference pitch to fix it with* My thaught pattern on getting a 5 string was so i could expand and learn more. ( i was was into tappin a lot when i first decied to get a 5 string) now that im slaping a lot, a 4 strign is probably better. Part of me feels like i need to learn to play a 5 or 6 stringer to be a well rounded musician. Anyways ive only been playing for 2 years and ive got a lot of years ahead of me.

p.s. does anyone find that they like 15" cab with a tweeter better than a 4x10 cab especially slappin? I figured this out after playing a year on my 4x10 cab. however...Mark King used ashdown 4x10's like i do (cept my 4x10 is the MAG line) and his tone is awesome.

oh! and the close string spacing on the schecter doesnt really bother me cuz i have small fingers...like chick size.
