In-Ear Monitors???

At church, i've been using a Phil Jones Bass Buddy- it's a headphone amp, preamp (with eq & compressor), has aux input, xlr out- I love it! Bought a set of Phil Jones headphones and it's great! Was gonna get some custom 1964 in ears but I like the headphones so much, I'm hooked. The PJ bass buddy is an excellent preamp also.
The app allows you to wirelessly control your monitor mix from iPhone or iPad. But sound does not wirelessly goes to your phone and earbuds. The mix will go to something else that you can plug your buds into, either a wired or wireless system.
This may have already have been mentioned, but you don't need a receiver per se. If you're not running all over the place onstage, you can use a small headphone mixer or something of that nature and a long cable To reach you. Behringer makes a small headphone mixer, and so does Rolls and ART. Attach the cable to your instrument cable if you like (using Velcro wraps is usually a good bet) and then plug your earbuds into it where it terminates by your guitar's strap.
This is a good way to go for a minimal outlay of cash, and is probably also a bit better quality audio through consumer-grade earbuds versus a transmitter body pack.

Not really novel at all, not since digital became more widespread.. been doing that with my band for about 18 months now..
I think you need additional talks with the other bassist. The X32Q app doesn't transmit audio to/from your iDevice.. what it does is allow you to remotely control what's in IEM mix, and it connects via wireless (not bluetooth) to the console. (oops.. appears @nutdog already stated this. I missed it).
Depending on which one they have, that might be direct (XR series) or via a router (X series). There is another app that lets you mixer the entire system via wireless, but you don't need that one.. you need the X32Q app. Available on itunes store.
You still need to determine how they get your IEM feed from the console to your ears.
Ask him how that works and what they use. There seems to be a huge gap in that area...
I know this will be met with a collective eyebrow raise... But... I leading up to buying a full set of customs I used $19 Sony Bumpin Buds and Skull Candy headphones. If you can find something with a dedicated bass driver that will help immensely. It's not going to be the ultimate in ear experience but it'll get you through. I guess them for four years.

Since this is a sub wedding gig I think it's safe to say you won't be jumping all over the stage. And the X32 mixer will have 8 to 16 monitor mixes (depending on which one they have) which means everyone should have their own mix & be using in ears. Leave your rig at home (or not) & go DI & use the above personal mixer (cost $25) & your earbuds (which you said you have) for your monitor. Easy load in/out & control your own mix via the app. We have a regular casino gig that we have to use in ears (wireless that they provide) & I just use my PF800 (post EQ) as my DI & it sounds pretty good, though it took a couple gigs to work out the kinks.

Westone universal are the way to go! I happen to have some new UM Pro 50s for sale in the classifieds, if you want the best for a great price.
5K in gear piled into $500 car and drives 100 miles to a $50 gig.

I'd bring some ear buds and a 1/4 adapter just in case. I personally use some $19 skull candy's I bought at Target.

Their IEM signal is most likely coming from an AUX OUT or something. You could grab the same signal and send it to a powered wedge. If they don't have one, renting the wedge from a local music store would be far cheaper than jumping into the IEM pool.
We just don't use monitors. If you can't hear the splash from the PA or some other player, you're to loud. Need another part, hire another musician.
I play many pro gigs with in ears. 1 feature you will want is to be able to mix your personal bass level and the band feed separately. A low end 2 or 4 channel mixer that you can use to adjust your level and the band feed level is a very nice thing to have. Wireless is great but way to expensive and complex for 1 show.
My church uses an Aviom system with wireless transmitters, which I'm sure must be ancient. I'm used to playing with floor monitors and never used in ear monitors until I joined the church's music ministry. It's been almost two years now and I must say that I can not get used to them. I'd go as far as to say I hate in ear monitors. But since the band plays to a click we all need to use them. I drew the line at spending a fortune on the things though. I borrowed a pair the church had and compared it with some Sennheiser headphones I had at home, and I couldn't tell the difference...both sounded terrible through the Avion system. So, I cheaped out and bought a $20 pair of earbuds and they've worked so far, at least as well as anything else I've tried. I don't think I'll ever get used to having monitors in my ears. For me, it sucks.
