Only because the Metrons compelled me to and ONLY because the gas station attendant attacked my settlement on Cestus 3.When the cops come after you, just tell them you were engaging the other captain in a contest of ingenuity against ingenuity, brute strength against brute strength.
I'm not sure if everyone understands how self serve gas works in New York City. I know it's different upstate and I know it's different out of state. Prepay first. Whether cash or credit. You pay twenty in cash before and twenty is what you get. The pump stops pumping at twenty. He screwed that up.
I'm not discounting the possibility that there may be repercussions for my actions.
I was picturing this guy:As I am reading your post I am visualizing a little man who looks like Danny DeVito trying to stop you from leaving the station. Just sayin

I don't disagree. What happened happened and what will happen will happen. I'm hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.I understand your point, I just know things can go really wrong in a hurry!

And what will the receipt say? I have the receipt for the twenty bucks I paid for fuel which shows the time I paid for it which coincides with the time stamp on the video of me at the station register which precedes me at the pump pumping gas which precedes him putting his hands on my door handle which precedes him pulling the door into his testicles.Seriously, man: Go back and give the guy his 7 bucks and be done with it. You will have done the "right" thing, and all the legal questions will immediately evaporate.
I'm not from N.E. but I am from NE, and this is front page news out here, right after the grain reports and baby feeder pig prices. "Ashton Kucher Punk'd Goes Wrong." Film at 11, (10 Central) if I stay up that late. Gotta get up early, milk the chickens, egg the cows and mow the crops.Hey I'm not from Queens but I am from the N.E. and know the personality type. He screws up and knows he has to account for 7 bucks out of his pocket. Instead of being cool about it, he denies guilt and tries to intimidate customer, gets the wrong guy and comes up short. Every day occurrence.
Some of you guys are waaaaay overthinking this. He's probably going to get a slap in the back of the head by Uncle Sal for being a gavone and inviting trouble. Case closed.
Yes! The Star Trek insanity defense! That's the ticket. When the cops come after you, just tell them you were engaging the other captain in a contest of ingenuity against ingenuity, brute strength against brute strength.

Sorry, but I'm sticking with my original position. You got $27 worth of gas, so you owe them $27. Everything else is irrelevant. And what will the receipt say? Prepay. Cash. New York City. It works a certain way barring user error on the part of the fuel vendor. What happened afterwards is a different matter. The prepayment for the fuel is what it is. How you feel about it is irrelevant.Sorry, but I'm sticking with my original position. You got $27 worth of gas, so you owe them $27. Everything else is irrelevant.
Why do OP's belittle their responders?...The prepayment for the fuel is what it is. How you feel about it is irrelevant.
Belittlement/disagreement with an opinion. Tomato/tomahto.Why do OP's belittle their responders?

I'll respond to this more delicately than I already did. I got $27 worth of fuel even though I paid $20 because the attendant made a mistake. You say I owed him $7. So did he not make a mistake? Is he not responsible for that mistake?Sorry, but I'm sticking with my original position. You got $27 worth of gas, so you owe them $27. Everything else is irrelevant.

Did the attendant make a mistake? Answer that question please.Wondering is this will be the best 7 dollars you ever saved, good luck on that
