Infanem Second Voice?

SOOOOOOOOOOO....got in my big boy power supply and have this on it's own isolated 9v 100mA thinger.....it is the NOISIEST pedal I've ever owned. I mean, it's cool...but it doesn't get quiet. There's times where when I have my strings completed barred with my entire hand but fuzz is still happening....and if I turn the volume on my bass all the way down (no volume at all) and I mess with my ep-2 plugged into it, it sounds like planes taking off (the sweep us EASILY heard).

Is this normal?

Rewatching Behndy's demos....I would say it is not.

Also..on a scale of 1 to 10, I have the volume of the pedal at about 2...and it's blowing stuff apart....wonder if that has something to do with it...?

mine's is pretty quiet when i'm not playing. it does that KutAh type glitchiness with wom string noise 'cause it's so responsive, but nah. sounds like something's wonky. i run mine off a PP2, i think i gave it it's own output but that should be similar to running a OneSpot just for the 2xVoxxy.

but yeah, tbey are LOUD. i never turn mine up past about 2 to get to unity or a mite bit louder.

Thanks guys. I shot Ken an email. It's kinda funny because even with that issue....it's still a bad*** ************* pedal. Every other thing I own I think to myself "this sounds great, other people have similar stuff but my **** sounds slightly better to me"....this is the only pedal that I really think "what this does is unique and sets me apart from the others". Maybe there's other pedals that can do this fuzzy sweep thing...but there isn't a bass player in SETX or SWLA using them.

Is your output only 100ma? as Behndy mentioned previously, Ken said its a 150ma draw.

I think Behndy was having that issue with the Faye Sing (heheh...it's hard following ADHDers not on meds :p...but it's what I do for a living so I've learned to speak Behndish). I can't find the exact requirements to the Second Voice but it does say "Uses standard 9VDC negative tip power". I tried it in the 9v 300mA slot and alone in the 1spot...which is pretty high mA with just one thing in it.

Thanks, though. I shot Ken an email. I like checking with you guys to make sure it's not user error before I bother a busy builder.

It really is groovy. One of the only pedals I've ever gotten that caused me to get ideas to write stuff with. I mean, with other ones I usually find them.....it's more like this one inspires me to write some stuff while the other pedals I have to sit down for a bit and figure things out.

It IS a noisy pedal. I use it mainly for the octave down, setting 6 - I get the best/ quietest results from knocking back the volume and tone on my passive jazz. However, it almost always has some noise issues, be it from a pop when engaging it to its interaction with other effects. You just gotta play cleanly, especially with the octave down. Gruv Fret Wraps here I come!! Seriously though - I think a little string muting happening all the time will definitely subdue the excess noise.

It is still one of my top 3 fuzz boxes and I will happily own the 2 I have now for life.

lol. i love that almost every video i put up to demo stuff has one dislike. i did something mean to somebody and pissed them off?

MSOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSsieeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee - durp. yeh, are you doing the switch pointed to fuzz or the instrument setting? i always use the instrument 'cause it gives it that tighter, more gated feel.

It does it on both instrument and fuzz, equally. It's weird. It's like...you know that sweeping pitch sound the pedal is so juicey for having? Even with my volume all the way off it does that but with white noise. It's like a jet phasered kitty kat hiss. That is constant and I can't get it to stop. It's not loud enough to consider the pedal unusable....I think I'm just nitpicky, there, and it grates on me. I can live with it if it's unfixable.

BUT there will also be times, and this is only with the volume on my bass is up, not when it's down, that it'll pop at me. A distorted pop like I'm playing a note...but I'm not...and I'm muting the strings so there should be no string noise. It's like the fuzz wants to keep going even after all string noise is ceased. That all sounds horrid...but it's not all the time...just occasionally.

The oddest is that there will be times where my entire sound kinda swoops and stutters and my volume will drop 50% like it's losing power even when the Second Voice is disengaged. I experimented with all my pedals to make sure it's not another issue but it stopped occuring when the Second Voice wasn't in the chain.

hurm. then the only thing outside of talking to Ken i can think of is maybe a bad cord. i thought mine's was busted once 'cause it was doing weird stuffs and i was SURE the cord i just built was fine. finally swapped it out and no more problems. mebbe?

Yeah, I was thinking about the cords...or the serge protector...all day...but thing I remembered it does it when I only have the Second Voice plugged in. Ah well. I'll keep experimenting. I have nothing but faith in Ken. I just need to problem solve as much as I can before I get in touch with him so I'm not wasting his time.

GET BACK TO WORK BENNNNNNNN :D

I usually have mine right after my octave only because I use the octave down on the SV the most. Also, I've found it goes good with it before most dirt what with the freaky pitch stuff it does, but who knows! TRY IT EVERYWHERE. It will rule EVERYWHERE.
