Infuriating Cover Songs

I was shopping in a Grocery Store the other day and heard this garbage pile of a cover to a song I pretty much hate already.....

Here is the one remake (cover) that in my opinion think ranks up there with the worst. I'm not a real fan of either of the artists, so I have no vested interest.....
Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's no.1 hit song (Parton write it) "I Will Always Love You". Houston sounded like she was trying too hard, and did an overblown pompous version, where she seemed like she was trying to show off her vocal abilities. Parton's was a heartfelt, simple tribute to her former musical partner. I just never could understand why everyone liked the Houston version. Parton laughed all the way to the bank with those royalties, though.

I read somewhere that Dolly Parton has something like 2,000 songwriting credits. Can you imagine? What a legend!

She's probably got more actually 'good' songs than 2,000. I'm not a big fan of Parton, but I always used to watch her on the Porter Waggoner show. Who can ever forget those live TV commercials she did on there, for Breeze detergent? That show had a lot of great artists, and it was all done live. Glad most of it is on YouTube now. (Those Breeze detergent commercials are not on YouTube - my guess is that she bought the rights, and had them removed!)

Playing mustang sally, wagon wheel, anything by adele, stuck in the middle of you and sweet home alabama made me wish i wasnt playing bass at all.

If I never played Sweet Home Alabama again it'd been too soon... unfortunately I live and play music in the south, so it's a law here that it must be requested and played at least once during a show.
Few songs make me shudder as much when I here it yelled out.

I smile and play it for fear that if my true feelings about it were known I would be forever banned from playing and possibly ridden out of town on a rail.
