Actually, my wife is in one of my bands (she sings back-up) and we both work for the artist, so it's not "our" band.
We were all hired on our own merrits.

I never dated anyone I was in a band with, even though I wanted to really bad.
If you are going to break up with a band member try to spare the persons feelings as much as you can and reiterate to them ahow much you want to continue to work together. It will be uncomfortable for a while if the other person is able to handle the situation but the odds are working against you.

To be pedantic, that would be "intra-band" dating. Inter-band dating wold be dating from ANOTHER band... [sorry for being a jerk by pointing this out!]
However to answer your point:
I played keys. Attractive girl singer starts dating bass player. Splits up with bass player, cries on my shoulder, decides I'm "really great" ;-), I KNOW this is a trainwreck about to happen, try and keep her at a distance but she's REALLY persistant... band splits up!
six months later band gets back together with different singer!
It was a lifetime ago (like 18 years or so). All I can say is that I wish I'd enjoyed it more at the time, cause in retrospect it's all a huge laugh.

Don't do it. It usually screws everything up... I've wanted to do it, but luckily didn't. I really advise against it....

Oops, meant intra-band dating. Inter-band dating is what I'm doing now...and the whole thing reeks of Gwen Stefani. Shall I write a sad song about it?
I almost did it. before I could ask her out, she asked me to be the bassist in the band she wanted to start up. so I decided to put the music first. I'm actually happy we're not dating.

It'll either lead great songs before leading to disater (Culture Club) or great songs with HUGE drama (Midnight Star). Of course the great songs only matter if you already have a record deal, and an outlet for these tunes. If you're just a local band chugging it out, then the split will come before the great tunes will. One band I played for had this HOT background vocalist that fancied the rodent, hey what woman wouldn't?! Anyway, she liked me and the leader liked her. I quickly saw where this was heading and nipped it in the bud. So I screwed the vocalist and quit the band! No, I'm kidding. I explained to her that it wasn't going to happen, and I explained to him that if he wanted this "perfect" band to stay together, then he'd let it go. They both agreed.
