inter-band dating

The scary thing is when your keyboardist's girlfriend starts hitting on you blatantly . . . 'cause then, having never even had a female be interested in you ever (and by now being nearly 20), you don't know what the hell to do.

Just show up at her house whering nothing except a snarf suit.

"Snarf Oh Liono pleese don't go fight Mum Ra and leave me behind, snarf snarf snarf"

Bad bad bad.
A guitarist and a singer (a dude and a chick, respectively) of one of my bands were an ex-couple when that thing started. Well, it didn't come out as a complete disaster, but there was some friction inside. The guitarist decided to quit at the end.

Roger got fired because he was a coked out @hole

I dated the lead singer/key/guit player in my band and we've been married 23 years now. S'not always easy, but then things truly worth anything rarely are. Have played in bands together and separately and have tried to keep our personal crap out of our professional situation. I hope we have done well in that regard.

I would recommend against it, but when Cupid's arrow strikes what is a bassist to do?

Congrats.

It was the first show with a new drummer. As we're packing up, his outrageously drunk girlfriend is talking me up- not a big deal, I figure she's just the "friendly" type. Then she's getting all touchy feely and I'm getting uncomfortable and moving away from her. Then she shoves her hand in my pants. I felt like Ned Beatty in Deliverance... "no, no, no, no, no..."

I'll tell you the complete story of the band I mentioned earlier in this thread, the leader didn't date the bg singer, but he hired this female "co manager", who was hot, against his manger's advice. This manager was a HEAVY hitter in the industry, but he ignored him and hired her anyway. :rollno: When she realized that I was not only his MD, but also his confidant, she wedged herself between us. We were getting 2k per show, but she told him that he could do the gigs with just his keyboard and guitar, not have to pay us. :scowl: Then she started telling him that the manager wasn't doing his job, even though we were playing Europe and touring nationally with VERY famous acts without a record out. Then they got married. :help: India.Arie wanted to put one of his songs on her first album AND make it a single, but she told him, "It could be a hit for you. Screw her! Noone is ever gonna hear that song if you let her record it." India's first cd went triple platinum and she got 7 Grammy noms. After she chased away the rest of the band, the promoters told him, "Look, you're great and all, but we hired you with the understanding that there would be a band, not a dude with a guitar." Then his manager quit. He had meetings with Capital, EMI, and a few other labels, but she somehow told him that those meetings were a front, so he didn't go. :scowl: After he couldn't get another band together, or get other good gigs, what do you think happened? That's right kids, she left him, and he spiraled downwardly quick. There were tough days. He was drinking malt liquor from dawn to dusk to dawn. I pulled him out of it, and their divorce was just finalized about a month ago, but I was there for him. I love the guy like a brother. I'm still there for him, but his time to shine is over.
